Ok, so logic doesn’t apply to some parts of Pokemon, so that means something this outrageous is fine?[/quote]
Outrageous: HSOWA. That is all.

I meant the whole heart scales eggs system, sorry for not being more specific. And the last bit, difference doesn’t matter, the point was that this game does have things the original games don’t have so it’s not a valid argument. As for outlooks on people’s genders, dunno bout you but that stuff does change, depends on the person. though not sure what that has to do with something going from male to female though or vice versa. unless we’re stooping to perspectives and that’s a whole nother thing. You probably used the wrong wording so it’s k. i’m too lazy to enlighten though, so~ meh.
Just to clear things up, there are several cases where gender does actually “Make” a difference in PMU… Yes, many sprites actually “Do” have their gender difference sprites (i.e: Hippowdon is a specific colour based on it’s gender, Wooper’s Gills are longer/shorter depending on it’s gender, Combee cannot evolve unless it is Female, Kirlia cannot become a Gallade unless it is Male)
I could give a much more extensive list, but most are just minor differences in appearance… The point I am making, is that gender differences for some Pokemon are currently in the game as it is. But what is the major factor is the fact of Pokemon who evolve based on their gender… i.e: Combee, Kirlia, and Snorunt… All three of these Pokemon can evolve with specific genders. The best example is Kirlia, since it is a Starter pokemon, and the only other way to currently obtain one is through events at this time… It has two different evolutions, Gardevoir (Which can be Male or Female), and Gallade (Which can only be male). Since Kirlia is a starter, it is considered a technical rare because at this time you can only have one in the “Natural” game… This does not include events, so lets just pretend like those never existed. If you did not pick Ralts as your starter, then you would not be able to have one at this current time.
Now lets set a scenario where your account was set as female (Because this determines the gender of your starter), and you picked Ralts as your starting Pokemon… You “Cannot” get a Gallade under this scenario (Keep in mind, this scenario does not include events). So for someone to just be like “Oh hey, I can’t have a Gallade… Well that is no problem! I can just change Ralts gender for a moderate fee, and now I “Can” have a Gallade~ Yay!” …No, I do not support this suggestion because it does support some game breaking aspects.
Although that was a very specific scenario, and it doesn’t apply to many other Pokemon anyways… Overall, I just don’t think it is a great idea. I feel that if you really want a “Specific” Pokemon on your team because you are “Very” picky, then do the dang work for it. I would rather not see a mechanic put in that allows people to cut corners just to fulfill the need to be picky about your Pokemon.
Sorry, but I have no support towards this suggestion.
Yeah, I kinda realized how horrible the suggestion was once everyone started pointing it out.
I don’t like this idea. you shouldn’t dislike a pokemon solely based on its gender. if you do that your acting like a sexist which is wrong. If you don’t like the gender that is your problem.
So being a sexist about fictional creatures is wrong? Since when? Yes I do agree that being sexist is pretty wrong, but it’s not because I think females or males are better than the other. I just don’t exactly like having a male pokemon in my party, mainly because it just doesn’t feel right to me. And there isn’t pokemon that I dislike because of it’s gender, there is not a SINGLE POKEMON that I absolutely hate other than Trubbish and Garbodor, for obvious reasons. There are some pokemon that I’d never USE, but it doesn’t mean that I exactly hate them. If I don’t like the gender that’s my problem? Obviously. But why’d you say being sexist was wrong and I shouldn’t dislike a pokemon solely based on it’s gender if my gender preference is MY PROBLEM?
By the way, if you’d actually take the time to read some of my other comments on this topic, I’m pretty sure it was evident that I got the point that this is never going to be implemented, ruins the game, etc. etc.
Although I disagree with the idea of a Gender Changing System, I don’t think Sorra is “acting like a sexist”.
The definition of a person who is sexist is:
Prejudice or discrimination based on sex.
Sorra isn’t exactly insulting any specific gender, nor is he saying one is better than the other. People (usually) have preferences for certain things. I don’t believe most people first think of Gardevoir as a male Pokemon. I personally think a female Gardevoir makes a bit more sense. Some genders fit better with a Pokemon’s appearance. Maybe someone doesn’t want a certain colored sprite. Perhaps they want a gender change based on a role play character that they had a connection with, but I don’t think we need to worry about someone being sexist with Pokemon (out of all things). That just seems a bit outrageous.
I understand where you are coming from and I don’t believe you are being sexist, but I don’t think this is something we should implement. Other than your starter, I don’t believe there are any Pokemon that you can only get once (I might be forgetting something). Therefore, its always possible to go out and try for the same poke, just a different gender. I know it does add additional time/effort, but it doesn’t seem functional. (And another small point, being there is nothing like this in the real games, and people want the same thing).
Also in the context of the games, it seems odd. Sadly, I don’t agree with this idea, but I wish you luck in your search for your Pokemon’s female counterparts, haha.
I would not mind it if we could see gender ahead of time, though. It is quite annoying to try recruiting 250 snorunts, then going back to Chimeco and checking the gender of each one, releasing the non-females…one at a time.
It keeps the work in while removing the unnecessary tedium of gender-hunting scenarios. Which is the problem I felt Sorra here was trying to address.
“Snorunt (m) wants to join you! Do you accept?” “Y/N”
I concur with Zebras. c:
