A helper rank to play with new player’s and help them out with their game
or to direct them to the right areas they request i do know that’s what other player’s are for its just a idea
and if the player is bored they can do something fun or chat with the helper
Helper dosen’t have to have commands
I’m being a little pessimistic about this, but I kind of read this as
“A rank to divide players even further.”
I don’t know, everyone, for the most part, helps around in PMU, I’ve guided a few new players around and helped them through PMU until they got used to it. I don’t expect a rank or reward in anyway, honestly.
You gave a suggestion for what would be the awards for helping other players. But here’s a small question that bothers me: How would it work? I mean, how would the system know if you helped a player or not? How would you be awarded points for helping other players out? Would they be able to post a request on a Request Board or would there be a different method as to how you get these requests? Also, what would be the reward system for this?
Until you add these pieces of information to your suggestion, I’m afraid I cannot agree with you quite yet. Could you please expand on your suggestion?
Honestly, I think you’re reading too far into this, Lman. I mean, sure, having a Helper Rank revolving around helping newer players would be biased, but what if it wasn’t just for those players? What if it were for all players? What if a veteran requests that they could get help through Harmonic Tower or maybe a training session in a difficult dungeon to gain more EXP?
Then what’d be the point of having it if everyone did it? There is none. The point of ranks is to separate on who’s what.(Moderation, Mapper, etc.) To be honest, it should only stay with staff. Ranks, again, draw a sort of social class line between the community, and it’d otherwise be useless if everyone got it.
I don’t really see a point to it. Players can still normally help out players without said rank, and it’s nothing really else besides showing off if it’s just a rank without commands. Besides, if there was something implemented to help newbies, we could always do a level system where the person helping could lower their levels temporarily to also play with them. They could also be a little stronger than the aver dungeon level though so they don’t die as easily.
You can try utilizing /status for this sort of thing.
For example:
/status Helper
/status Guide
/status Teacher
/status help4free
Only ones that I can come up with.
Never tried it myself since I often cling to mapping, but I say it’s worth a shot. :D
I can even see a guild of teachers if someone really want to get into it. :la:
Hm… Maybe I was off with what it meant with “Helper Rank”. I was more thinking that it would be a “ranking system”, like the points of the mission ranking system (Bronze, Silver, Gold, etc.). I wasn’t taking into account though that it was a rank like Supporter and the sort.
Still, I would think it may be a fun idea to have a system of a helping rank that revolves around helping out other players like I stated above (getting through a dungeon, retrieving an item, and whatever else there might be). But, like I said, I don’t really understand what this suggestion is entailing. My interpretation was off from what it was probably trying to state. I was relating it to one of my previous suggestions with SOS Mail. Heh, my fault.
