SOS Mail

I’m uncertain if this was suggested (probably was), but I feel like there should be the addition of SOS Mail implemented into PMU.

In the games, it’s quite common for someone to faint inside a dungeon and send out a message to have themselves rescued, getting a number of chances before they could be saved. I was thinking that this system could be programmed into PMU somehow.

How It Could Work:

Maybe have a new type of board to see the people that wish to be rescued. To prevent trolls from taking on a mission and hoarding it into some type of to-do list, maybe have them transport into the dungeon once they take a mission with an option that says, “Will you rescue [Player] at [Dungeon]?” To have a party take on an SOS mission, the leader could choose as the other members gather at the board when ready. Then, the rescuing would work as followed…

For Solo:

For the user that wants to be rescued, they can send out the message to the board with the option to choose a pre-made message. Items will be randomly generated for the mission, and points will be given out like normal. Then they’ll have a waiting screen as they wait for rescue.

Now, once the rescue party is in the dungeon, they’ll scale to the floor the player is on. Once they hit the required floor, Pokémon will start swarming around the player that needs rescuing. Once one of the rescue party lands on the tile, they will be given the option to rescue them and then the rescue team will transport out of the dungeon after revival. After the player is saved, they’ll continue like normal.

For Parties:

This SOS board for parties will only work if the full party faints. The leader of the party will send out the pre-made message to the board. Items will be randomly generated for the mission, as well as points. And then all the party will have a waiting screen as the whole party waits for a rescue.

Now, once the rescuer is in the dungeon, they’ll scale to the floor the party is on. Once the rescuer hits the required floor, a group of enemies will swarm around each party member that fainted. The rescuer party will have to find all four players that were defeated. After they land on the tiles and finish the options to rescue each of them, the rescuer will transport out of the dungeon. Then the rescued party will continue like normal.

Of course, limits will be set for the dungeon of how many times people can attempt getting through the dungeon. For example, Mt. Skylift could have five attempts before being unable to progress further while Tanren Chambers could have ten.

Leave your comments and thoughts below of how this could be improved! Or just leave your messages about how you like this idea!

So the persons supposed to wait in the dungeon for hours due to the user not being prepared? I do support although, it’ll be highly unbalanced.

I guess I forgot to add in the option of cancelling the rescue. But, yeah, they can cancel if they don’t have the patience. They would probably spam in Global asking for someone to come rescue them.

And anyways, it’s not only for those that are unprepared. It’s also for those that had the luck against them, where they ran into many traps in a row or if they ended up in a Monster House and didn’t get the option of the invincibility frames.

What makes it unbalanced though? I didn’t get a clear cut view of what you think would be out of proportion. :/

It does seem like a legit suggestion. Although, it"s basically what the guild could be for. Yet, you can"t speak in the guild chat while fainted, there could be a command for the guild to see and they"ll PM you if they can rescue you or not, or private message someone from the guild to do such.

The only problem is there are now so many guilds. If you want to be rescued by a guild member then either they’re not online or they’re busy/bored. The guild system would be a much better way to rescue teammates but two things stand in the way. One, too many guilds so fewer players for support. Two, Guild Chat not working when fainted. Once those are fixed I don’t really think this would be needed.

I guess I gave an alternative for people that aren’t as lucky to be in a guild. :/ But, it’s true that most people are getting into a guild now-in-days. But, for those that are in a small guild or just have no guild to be in, these are just some options for them.

It will be neat if this was worked with a guild point sytem along side it.

I could see it happening like so:
Player

  1. User dies in dungeon and picks the option to SOS
  2. User pick a desired time they want to wait
  3. 10-60 mins and how many teams attempts they want to allow to try

Guild

  1. under the SOS Tab in the Mission board
    Available to all guilds.
  2. One guild claims one and has a set time limit
  3. The guild will have a timer depending on what time the player set
  4. If guild fails they can’t obtain it in the board again

There will probably be a daily limit to how much a guild can gain points through this

and the amount of daily SOS’s a player can make

If guild succeeds the earn a certain amount of guild points
and the player doesn’t lose their stuff

and they can spend guild points on bonuses like storage or a bit of an exp boost, but that’s another idea to branch off of entirely. :’:

It might encourage more people to stick together in a guild. :D

yes please for what flare said, we really need more for guilds than what they have. x:
