Threshold Breaking (Sign-Up and OOC)

Plot Synopsis
In the world of Averall, four beings retain balance and harmony among the basic elements. Each sleeps at the paramount of its given element’s power, guarding that which has the power to control them and their given element. These are the Archons, each taking a different form then the last and each guarding over one of Earth, Sky, Fire, and Water.

However, there are those who would seek to ruin the delicate balance of the elements, and one in particular has set his eyes on the world that we call home. From his chains he angers, slowly weakening his bonds and breaking the barrier that separates our world from his prison. Already his minions have begun to spew forth into the world, creatures both insignificant and mighty, leaking through the tears between the two realms.

But hope is not lost. The Archons, stirred from their rest, have called for heroes both known and unknown to stand against the darkness, pointing to the epicenters of the events, the tears in reality. Those heroes who have answered the call have begun assembling at the city of Akash, to plan the counterattack upon the enemy.

Plot
Right then, this is your semi-typical High Fantasy, however I’ve decided to run it on the general “Rule of Awesome.” Or, we could go more basic then that, and call it “Running by the Anime Laws of Physics.” This means huge swords swung like toothpicks and what not. (The former sentence does not permit the use of godmods and/or especially Mary-Sue/Gary-Oaks or whatever you kids are calling them today.)

The basic story is this: You are a young boy/girl (teens probably) in the world of Averall who has decided to join the fight against the Dark Beings, creatures sent into Averall by an evil entity sealed away outside existence for five hundred years. Thus you have decided to travel to Akash, the largest city in the land, and join the Keepers, the newly founded guild supported by the royal army to fight against the evil.

Now, this is the world of Averall, and because of that, everyone has magic, to some degree. This does not mean everyone is a mage, but each person is born to a certain element (pending on season of birth).

Winter=Water: Water Magic is usually used by mages in the form of ice, representing change and fluidity and is most powerful against fire in either form, but weak against Air.

Summer=Fire: Usually used in its pure form, fire is the most aggressive element, representing power and destruction, and is most powerful against earth, but weak to air.

Spring=Air: Air is used in both its pure form and its energy form (lightning) in combat, it represents motion and energy. It is useful against water, but weak against earth.

Fall=Earth: Usually used in its purest form of rock and soil, it represents both sturdiness and physical strength and as such is good against air but weak against fire.

-Special-

Light: Healing magic is concentrated on Light magic, though some water magic is also used. Light magic represents hope and life in general.

Dark= Dark magic is usually associated with evil, and rightly so. Dark magic uses the life energy of the user and the life of those around the user to fuel its powerful. While a great deal more powerful then any other element, it comes at a great sacrifice to use such magic.

Again, this does not mean you are skilled in magic, it simply means that you can use at least a little. I should probably go into further detail on that so I don’t have sword wielding super knights throwing fire with every slash of their sword, burning through entire armies with massive blasts of power. (Note the preceding is an exaggeration, if I see a mage do something like that, you out.)

Now, the downfall of my more recent RPs has been simple: Openness. Openness openness openness. I cannot have you all running around like lemmings or soon the RP is derailed and all becomes Chaos, Luli has found a happy medium, and that’s good, now it’s my turn.

It would be good to remind you that none of the characters are particularly experienced with fighting, so they aren’t going to be pros right off the bat.

The General Classes
The following are not STRICT guidelines. They are simply guidelines to give you a basic outline of what you want to do. I can’t have a “sword wielding super knight” turning into a back stabbing thief out of nowhere. There must be some order to things. If the following appears to be a ripoff of every existing MMO in existence (Except us, we’re unique) then good job, you figured it out, to an extent.

The Magic Users
All magic users concentrate their magic through Staffs. No two staffs are alike.

Black Mage
Black Mages profess in combat spells, they are not usually, by any means, evil. There are, of course, four of these: Geomancer, Pyromancer, Aquamancer, and Aeromancer. Each professes in the combat skills and basic uses of a different element. As time goes on they become even more powerful, with new spells.

White Mage
White Mages are healers and the only individuals capable of using Light Magic. They concentrate on protection and healing over damage to enemies. Most White Mages do not commit themselves to the field of battle, however there are many who prefer to help wounded there then from behind the lines.

Summoners
Giving up all elemental magic, Summoners are extremely rare Mages who must form contracts with beings through books or directly. Most Summoners contract unintelligent “Golems” to fight for them, however other, more powerful summoners seek out unique, intelligent beings known as (To steal a term that has been used elsewhere) Nonpareils. (There will only be one or two summoners among you, seeing as they are extremely rare. As a summoner you cannot start out with a Nonpareil summon.)

Shape Shifter
Another super rare class. Shape Shifters are Mages who profess at changing their physical form to suit their need. Shape Shifters can only use forms that they have unlocked through “Seals” which must be studied from books and scrolls of their origin. What does this mean? Quite simply it is a limiter that keeps you from turning into a mop, or a five headed dragon that spews acid, poison, fire, ice, and electricity. (Again there will only be one or two of you allowed to be this. Probably one, just like above. You start out with three forms that I get to okay.)

The Martial Classes

Fighters
These are your common, sword swinging, hammer smashing, axe chopping soldiers. While that may not seem to interesting, fighters who escalate above the average can become masters of their art as capable in combat as mages and even summoners. Fighters usually decide to stick with a weapon of choice as far as style, however many can use a range of weapons, rather then constricting themselves to the basics.

Thief/Rogue
Thieves are sneaky tacticians. Their real goal in combat is to undermine their enemies ranks, doing damage and disappearing as quickly as they come. Thieves are also capable scouts and spies, able to infiltrate enemy ranks outside of battle to get an idea of what is going on behind the lines.

Archer
Archers are your support units. They let the larger, stronger, heavier allies take on the enemies face to face while delivering deadly damage from a distance (Catchy). Archers usually deliver their attacks with bows, however in rare instances they will use crossbows.

Ranger
Like the thieves, rangers are skilled at duel wielding, unlike them however, rangers prefer to do their combat up close and personal. The agile version of their Fighter counterparts, Rangers cut away at their enemies using speed and agility (there is a difference) rather then strength and endurance. Most commonly, Rangers wield swords, cause their awesome like that. Rangers are also nature loving happy whosits, which is where they get their name, for defending the Range.

Ze Rules of Play

  1. This is, to me, the most important rule. Grammar and fluency. I don’t want to see one sentence long posts, I don’t want to see two sentence long posts. I want to see well constructed, well thought out posts, or at least posts that I can TELL you were trying at when you decided to write it.
  2. I suppose this should be here to. No godmodding. While yes, you can be epic, I don’t want you wiping out armies of mooks with the flick of your finger, or even your most powerful spell. You should enjoy the length of the sequence and interaction among the characters during more then you savor the simple brute force of wiping the floor with imagined enemies.
  3. Standard Forum rules apply. Let’s not have any swearing or what not.
  4. Relationships, though rare as they be, are okayed for this RP. Let’s just keep thing PG 13 at tops, and try not to stretch the limit on that.
  5. NO PERFECT CHARACTERS. This translates to Mary Sues and Gary Stus/Oaks/whatevers. Perfect characters leave no room for development and are NOT welcome here.
  6. You see this? This color thing I’ve got going on? Let’s try to keep it controlled. I don’t want colors that cannot be seen. I also don’t want colors that are annoyingly bright, bright hurts, my corneas don’t like bright.
  7. Sigh No, you don’t have to be human. I have had some very deep contemplation about this, however! You must be humanoid, look it up, and mostly human at least. This means other races, like elves, and those cat ear people. Nothing so overboard as a dragon.
  8. I will reiterate: Grammar. This means spelling, to an extent, it means your speaking, it means CAPITALIZATION. And maybe most importantly it means typing words out and not coming up with an abbreviation for everything like some kind of secret code that is transferred across the internet.
  9. I Jinx hold the right to kick you from the RP for breaking these rules. I also hold the right to Add MORE rules and CHANGE existing ones. Hoozah order amongst chaos.

Character Name: Reese [Re(e)-see] Skyfield
Alias: Reeses
Gender: Female
Age: 16

Season of Birth: Winter
Class Choice: Shapeshifter
Element: Varies depending on form. Her human form is of the Water element.

Weapon/Forms: At the moment, she can turn into a black and white husky with the wings of a white Phoenix, and the tail of a ferret. This form is of the Water element. This form is offensive.

Another form of hers is a furry dragon (brown and tan fur) with the head of a Doberman. It also has two sets of tan and black wings on its back. This form is of the Air element. This form has great defenses.

Her third form is one of the Fire element. It is a wolf-like creature covered in blue flames. This form is know for speed and power.
(Most of her forms will be part canine, or resemble a canine)

If she is ever stuck in just her human form, she carries around a whip on her hip that is easily accessible. This whip is colored golden and is Reese’s prize possession.

Height: 5"7’ exactly
Weight: 104.5 lbs

Appearance: A girl at the height of exactly five feet, 7 inches, Reese weighs only 104.5 lbs. She is very skinny, and has little to no visible muscle. As a result, she is normally seen as a skinny, unmuscular, girl.

Reese has a rather… cute face depending on your definition of cute. She has a small, rounded nose, large oval eyes, and large, black with white tipped ears that resemble those of a Doberman rather than normal human ears. Her ears are very adept, so she has a good sense of hearing as well. Reese has a few freckles on her cheeks as well as her nose. Her eyes are a bluish-gray color.

She has a very slender body as mentioned before. She has pretty decent agility as a result of this. On her back, she has a black and white tail that resembles one of a Husky.

She has sky blue hair that turns into a neon blue around her ends. Reese’s hair is cut short, and is never brushed into any specific style. As a result, her hair is normally always just down.

As for headgear, on her head she always wears a white military general’s hat passed on to her from her father. The cap has five stars above the sky blue visor. On her ears, she has a few silver rings she got her ears pierced for.

For body wear, she wears a white shirt that doesn’t have any sleeves. This shirt has a six fake buttons for looks on it. It also has pockets on both sides of the top of the shirt. Above the right pocket, there are 10 stars, five both above and below the pocket. She also wears a dark blue tie with a yellow eagle design. This tie stops right above her belly.

On her arms, she wears white, matching fake sleeves. They go down to her hand, and do not cover her shoulder. On her right arm, she wears a blue armband that reads, in whitish-blue text, ‘Reese’.

For her legs, she wears a pair of plain white pants. She also wears a pair of sleek, white stockings, and a pair of white combat boots with blue laces.

Fears: She has a fear of loud noises, water, and chocolate.
Likes: She likes peanut butter, chasing things, squirrels, and pretty much any physical contact.
Dislikes: Reese dislikes chocolate, swimming, loud noises, rude people, and, most of all, stereotypes.
