10 Days in Anthem City

Plot
Anthem City, located in the western part of Exbel, is a (kind of) large and beautiful city. Its magnificent Native Exbellian-style buildings, tall trees, and fresh, country air make it a popular tourist spot. What if you had the chance to live in this great city or stay on vacation for ten days? Well, you"re in luck, because this is the perfect opportunity to come: Anthem"s 100-year anniversary! There will be parties, events, and more for ten days, and streets will be decorated with Exbel colors. This RP is about those ten days in Anthem City!

  2. Keep it rated PG (E 10+) or less than that (G/E); no graphic violence, strong sexual themes, swearing, or other things like that are allowed.

Trucy’s boots thudded against the soft, grassy ground as she sprinted over the rolling hills towards her destination. Her cape fluttered violently in the wind that blew, and it was a miracle–maybe even a magic trick–that her hat didn’t fall off. The little dot called “Anthem City” was getting bigger and bigger by the minute; Apollo told her when she was younger that the reason some things looked small were because they were far away. So, she deduced, the reason Anthem City was getting bigger was because she was getting closer.

“Hey, Trucy, wait up!”

Ah, Apollo. Compared to his little sister, he was a total Slowpoke! For a moment, Trucy considered going on without her older brother, but decided against it. She wasn’t supposed to be that mean. The Eevee dug her heels into the ground, skidding to a stop at the very top of a low hill about half a mile away from the town with the big party they were going to. Throwing a glance over her shoulder, she called back, “Hurry up, Polly! We’re almost there!”

(OOC: Aaand I can’t exactly think of anything else to post.)

The Umbreon lazily walked around town. A lazy day, but it was holiday season, so you could expect some irritating Pokemon coming your way. She could just imagine all the annoying twerps getting in her way.

You can’t blame them. Some of the little ones aren’t even that malicious. They just want to play.

She simply yawned and went to pick some berries from the front of her house.

She even had a Liechi berry tree to annoy the heck out of the mudkip.

Oh, this will be a be a blast.

David sat on his porch, looking around as everyone was gossiping, putting decorations up, setting up booths…

Today is probably gonna be eventful. He thought. The whole idea of it sounded pretty neat, actually. It’d make everything a lot less boring at least.

We’ll just have to see how this ends up.

A small Togetic flew high above the grassy plains that overlooked the huge city. The friendly roaring of the crowd could be heard all around.

She smiled.

“All right! They haven’t started yet! Or, hopefully not… I don’t want to be late!” Bandana laughed to herself, enjoying the breeze in her face.

She padded over to the unaccounted for decorations near the front of her yard. There were streamers, confetti, and other colorful decorations. There was a note taped to it.

-Celebrate for once, you old hag. ~Anonymous-

How thoughtful. It’s not like your going to miss out on the celebrations. Yet.

Might as well start decorating to avoid pointed glares from some of the civilians. Can’t mind their own business, can they?

[sub]The Wartortle watched the others setting up for the festivities through his black and stylish shades. Luckily, he arrived early enough to watch. Though, that wasn"t even really the reason he arrived early. Mahjong shrugged away his pointless thinking, and watched them anyways, planning for the ten days to come.

Aleks himself was busy working on his tent a bit away from his house. Magic tent, at that. He hoped to attract people to his tiny tent with his small, but flashy, pinwheels in front of it. He grinned and clapped silently to himself, starting to get excited.

[hr:2c17so6g][/hr:2c17so6g]

Stealthily, yet casually, hiding behind some fake foliage was the young Zorua, Dan. He looked around and watched everyone setting up, possibly looking for some free food samples he could take.[/sub]

(OOC: Oh, dear.)

A Mudkip paced around his room, wondering what to do. The festival was already starting; tourists were flooding in, and he hadn’t even done his part of the decorating in the front yard. A pile of ribbons, garlands, and deflated balloons were sitting on his bed, waiting to be put up. He sighed, knowing that he’d have to do this some time or another…

Maybe in an hour or so, the Mudkip thought to himself. Yes, an hour sounded just fine.

If one were to look overhead, they’d see a red-and-white dot in the sky, and if one were to look closer, then they’d know the red-and-white dot was a Latias. Around her neck was a nametag that read “Ruby” in sloppily-written letters. A folding wooden booth and several other things, such as pieces of equipment and decorations, were strapped to her back so that they wouldn’t fall off. She was heading to the street her house was on, which was towards the northern side of Anthem.

Ruby glided over the tops of Exbel-style buildings–they were built to resemble the species of their original owner, which the Latias thought was pretty cute–and watched the Pokemon down on the ground. She could spot a Quilava wearing some frilly tissue-thing around his neck and a Glaceon wearing a similar tissue-thing who was whining to him. There was an Umbreon with a yellow scarf taking a walk on her own, observing the upbeat city–the Umbreon reminded Ruby a bit of her own self.

The Pokemon leaned forward and picked up speed; she had to get to her house fast, lest her brother get angry at her for being late.

“Are we there yet?” a bored and very tired Luxray groaned.

Her paws were getting tired from a long walk that took her across the dry, cracked ground of Tanren. She tugged at the red scarf around her neck in an attempt to loosen it. Times like these, her large, thick, black fur coat wasn’t very useful. Little sparks crackled around her tail as it spun behind her.

“We’re almost at Exbel, Ren,” a Flygon replied with a slight hint of annoyance.

The Flygon glided gracefully through the desert air towards a tunnel.

“We need to get through here, Ren,” the Flygon pointed towards the entrance. “It leads to Exbel.”

“Come on, Rukavi. You have wings. Can’t you fly us to Exbel?” Ren mumbled, tail twitching.

“That’s the problem. I can’t fly with you on me. I promise it’ll be cooler on the other side, besides, you can take your anger out on the agressive Pokemon in here.”

“Fine.”

The pair headed into the dark, rocky Tanren Tunnel. It wasn’t exactly the most flying friendly place, so Rukavi hopped through most of the dungeon. Ren kept her head down low, hoping her fur wouldn’t catch on to more dry bushes.

  • Screech! -

“Ren! Use Thunderbolt behind us!”

For a moment, the cave was lit by a brilliant display of strength and skill. The light was blinding, and the screeches died down. Three crisp looking Golbat lay in a pile behind the duo.

“Nice work.”

With a grunt of acknowledgement, Ren kept going. This was going to be a long walk.

She finished picking her berries, and pointedly put a basket of Liechi Berries on a sample table outside her house.

It was traditional for her to create some snacks for some people to try. So she’ll make some berry tarts. And later drop off a basket of Liechi Berries at the Mudkip’s house, just to see his reaction.

She got out her home-made crust, applied Mago Berry jam for a base, sprinkled various fruit chunks onto it, and finished it off with a pecha-based syrup.

Delicious. She made a few plates of these snacks, and made Liechi Berry juice as well.

[sub]Dandy continued looking around for free food, before a certain berry basket caught his eye.
He skittered over to the Umbreon"s table in front of the house. Dan looked the basket over, pondering whether or not to take a berry or two.[/sub]

Dreaden walked slowly around the city, careful to make sure he didn’t run into anyone. He’d never been to Anthem before, and didn’t know where to go, so he just wandered through the city. He watched pokemon run through the city with his right eye who making preparations for the events and parties that would be taking place throughout the ten day festival celebrating the 100th anniversary of Anthem. He sighed, spotting a nice tree that he could sit under and began walk over carefully. The absol’s four paws were sore from walking non-stop and he needed to rest.

Apollo groaned. Anthem City was really noisy, way noisier than Eterna Forest ever got, and it was giving him a migraine. The Eevee was starting to regret taking Trucy here.

Speaking of her, Apollo’s younger sibling was examining an extravagantly-decorated table with equipment for various magic tricks sitting upon it. There was a piece of paper taped to the front of the table, Apollo noted, advertising that it was a magic shop or something. The miniature shop seemed to belong to a Quagsire, who stood behind the table, watching Trucy with amusement as she marveled at the merchandise.

“Trucy,” the older Eevee admonished, padding over to her. “You’re supposed to stay close to me all the time. Dad said that, remember?”

The little girl did a mock-pout. “Aww, that’s be no fun, Apollo. You probably won’t let me do anything if I stay next to you for the entire party.”

Well, even when you’re not next to me, it isn’t like I’m not going to stop you from doing certain things. I promised Dad I’d keep you safe, Apollo mused, looking over Trucy. His gaze then flickered to the stand. “Hmm…do you want me to buy something for you?”

The little Eevee tilted her head, eyes widening. “Really? You would?”

He smiled. “Yeah, if you like any of this stuff. I know you want to be…what was it? An explorer-magician?”

“A magician-explorer.”

“Same difference.”

As she reached the outskirts of town, she brang her speed to a slow. Bandana fluttered to the ground, letting herself take a small fall to the grass.
“Well, I’m here!”

The Togetic paused to check on the jar he had been holding the entire way there. She sighed. Thankfully it didn’t break on the ride her. Not a scratch on it.

Just as he had walked into the town, the atmosphere of excitement hit her like a smack across the face. Bandana could everyone in town’s loud voices, joyful or not, she could smell all the delicious foods the Pokemon of the town had been cooking for the occasion. And she felt like this would be a place she could be accepted. Not as if she was neglected- no. Her friends at home were some of the nicest people ever.

Bandana let her eyes and mind drift and wander as she muttered a few words barely audible over the blanket of sound.
“This is gonna be a long 10 days.”

David was daydreaming at this point, looking through memories. Not as if he had anything better to do.

Well, he did. Inside his house, there lay a pile of colorful decorations. His brother, whom of which will be said later, strictly asked him to put them up by the end of the day.

And he didn’t want to mess with his Bro.

He’d gotten his brother angry once.

And that was not a good day.

The Zangoose lifted himself up from the porch stairs. I’d better get to work.

((OOC: Wheee. I may make Dave’s brother a new character. I don’t know yet.))

Standing on a stepladder, Red was trying to balance on his hindpaws while holding a streamer up against a lamppost and hammering it in place with his mouth. It wasn’t very easy, to say the least; he came toppling down in a moment.

“Oof!” the Mudkip muttered as his back came into contact with the sidewalk. He sighed before getting back up and approaching the stepladder. Red had finally managed to push aside his laziness and actually try to decorate, but it wasn’t going so well. This had been his fifth (failed) attempt to tack something to the lamppost, and it tired him out.

He decided to start with blowing up balloons instead of nailing things to lampposts. That would be much easier, hopefully.

(OOC: Sorry for the rather short post. Not feeling very inspired. ^^;;)

The Umbreon noticed the Zorua, and smiled.

“You can take a berry or two. I don’t mind, really.” She said lazily.

She was busily putting up her decorations, her tail pinning the flags to the fence and securing the connection with a quick Iron Tail to an nail, held up by a paw.

(Euuugh. Laziness. ;;)

OOC: bummmpppp :D

“Owowow.”

“At least we’re in Exbel.”

Ren collapsed on the grassy ground in a heap and grinned.

“Grass. How I missed you,” she mumbled.

Rukavi smiled and stretched her wings. It was great to be out of that arceus-forsaken tunnel. It was dark, cramped, and full of agressive, hungry Golbat. At least Ren knew how to use Thunderbolt, if not, both of them would have been weak as Rattata in the dark.

The exit led them to a mountainous region near the north of Exbel. Various types of hardy shrubbery climbed its way up the large rocks and cliffs. The sound of unprepared travelers echoed out of the entrance of a nearby dungeon. Geodude and Makuhita were making a racket, per usual.

We are not going in there, Rukavi thought. No, sir.

“Ren?” Rukavi poked the Luxray with her tail.

“. . .”

No response. She probably fell asleep again.

Might as well take a little break, the Flygon sighed.

She couldn’t deny the fact that she was pretty exhausted as well. So, the pair fell asleep on the side of the road, ever so close to their destination.

[sub]Dan watched the Umbreon with interest before taking some of the berries. It was a bit weird actually getting free food, seeing how he was used to stealing, but he didn"t mind it, of course.
“Thank you ma"am.” He nodded as he spoke. He made sure to be polite, even though he didn"t really want to be. He hopped off on his hind legs, holding the berries in his paws. That sort of a talent of his, to walk on two legs.

[[OOC// Wow, my posts are so tiny compared to everyone else"s omg. :c But then again, I haven"t seriously roleplayed like this in ages hhh.]][/sub]

Dave shuffled through the pile of decorations on the shelf, moving a few things out of the way as he did.

The room itself was a cluttered mess of disks, cases and turntables. The walls were lined with posters with bright vector designs. There was a trashcan overflowing with crumpled up paper, with what is written on them unknown. Not that it was some sort of huge secret.

He sniffed, picking up and streamer and roll of tape. The Zangoose didn’t like decorating, but it had to be done.

She lazily kicked the nearest ripe berry tree, and a barrage of berries fell into the basket she placed under it. A few scattered, and some small Spinaraks went for the free food. More Liechi berries for Red.

“What to do, what to do… I think I’ll stop by the Mudkip to give him his hated berries.” She muttered to herself, consulting the list in her head.

(Blergh. Short post is short.)
