i know there’s been many threads on the forums about the possibility of an /ignore command, and i’ve read about lots of the downsides/arguments people point out and make on those threads, so i was thinking about another idea - how about we have chat channels instead, like there are on a lot of other mmos? or more specifically, the ability to turn on and off certain chat channels.
i agree that using /ignore on someone in a small community like pmu will make it seem like that person is permanently muted. having the option to turn on/off chats, though, will allow for both forgiveness and for others to not feel offended for being subjected to an /ignore.
some further reasons for the ability to turn chat channels on and off:
-some people on pmu just want to talk to their guildmates/friends, and being able to mute global/local when they’re intense helps a lot, so you can actually see the messages that are important to you.
-pmu is an all-ages game, and some people aren’t mature enough to not get frustrated or angry when fights break out on global/local. now i know that might mean they aren’t mature enough to actually step away from the fight, but at least it gives them a better chance - there is no harm done, really.
-it will never be permanent, because sooner or later, your friend may log online or you may need help, and you will most likely need to open up local or global again. it serves more as a short term solution, mostly aimed at global/local arguments when staff aren’t on, or ones that are just outright annoying but not punishable.
-i don’t think this would be too difficult to code either, so i hope it’s not a huge request that will consume a lot of time
thank you for reading, pmuers!
