If you’ve played through the PMD games you’ve surely come across one of these little treats, a seed that lowers your level by 1, the Doom Seed.
Even though it has effects that are less than desirable, there can be the use of using it to lower a 100 back to 99 in order to exp all with it again.
My suggestion is adding them to the game, if they aren’t already.
So yeah, i can see where it could be useful. I’d actually quite like it so I can still give xp to people on dungeon runs. Things to conider tho…
They’d have to take a full level back, unlink on the games (they take you back a level with 1xp to next on games so to essentially stall current level xp - that would be useless here.)
Available in a high level dungeon, so no newbs get them and eat them.
Perhaps they should only work on level 100? Or with a certain rank? (level limits my preference but im not sure if that can even be imposed on an item tbh) Alternatively, no dropping them to limit them to the player who has it’s hands only, though i dont like that as much either. To stop any bad uses of them (to completely eliminate the possibility of experienced players giving to lower level - someone will eat it when they get it accidentally, thats pretty much inevitable).
It may be a bit obvious, and not a concern yet, but when throwing does work and such these should not be something that anything can inflict on others.
You do have some good point, Arianda, and I’ve thought some more on the subject…
If they were made like certain soulbound items, ex. fireorbs from the SF bosses, they could be non dropable, non tradable, and non throwable(when throwing items comes out), that would solve a lot of concerns with people trolling with the items.
Additionally I think having the item be only usable by certain rank or certain level wouldnt be necessary if the seeds could only be found in certain high level dungeons (like deep dragons descent or high mt.moon) and would have the restrictions mentioned above.
With these measures taken I think doom seeds would be quite safe to use, with any level pokemon.
Another thing that could be interesting… evolved pokemon that are under the level they should be, like a level 1 Hydreigon (if you collected a large amount of doom seeds).

Doom seeds have been introduced as a current event exclusive! Even though I think the concept ties in well to the ____ theme, I did think of this when I was planning stuff.
Hopefully you can make it that far in to acquire one!
As for permanent additions, not sure where it would go, since we don’t want it to be an easy find. We might find a place in the future. c:
