Suppose this is a bit of a silly little suggestion, but i was brainstorming with a couple of friends egg recruits and egg moves and noticed how seafoam cove does a excellent work providing a new player with a wimpod with a actually useful moveset thanks to egg moves when if it was a normal recruit it just wouldn’t any moves.
so this got this got us thinking, should there be more egg recruits in early dungeons?
possibly not all pokemons have insane egg moves, one of them as pretty tame list i found, zubat!
so my suggestion is to add zubat eggs in cliffisde relic,
but why? well multiple reasons;
it would introduce eggs recruits to a new player in a dungeon they will have to be going through, instead of possibly missing them from seafoam cove,
but that’s not the entirity of the reason,
another reason which may sound a wierd at first, is the fact cliffside relic is a fairly difficult dungeons often being a slight road block for the player, requiring a few tries to actually manage to get to the bottom,
why is that important? why it’s important is due to actually the egg recruit itself zubat and it’s egg moves, zubat is pretty good pokemon for cliffiside relic getting some decent moves real early such as wing attack at 13, even tho there’s a couple of rock types around it handles the place decently well, but not perfectly because it’s missing a little covrage,
and guess what the egg moves can provide? giga drain and zen headbutt!
not moves you would normally use on crobat, but they are very useful when trying to beat specifically clifiside relic with it!
having a zubat egg recruit in cliffiside relic would cause the player to end up in this position, run the dungeon grab a egg or two, lose and then hatch the egg to get a zubat which they find contains really good moves that would provide a conter to the wall the found themselfs infront off!
this will leave a positive impact about the egg system on the player, by seeing the immidiate value, this may also lead em to learn another pretty good lesson,
training up counters for troubles some dungeons,
the zubat they would have just hatch would be lv1, which means they would need to spend some time training to lv25 on par with the rest of thier team,
such a request may seem daunting which is why zubat having such a good visible counter to the cliffiside relic is so important, clearly seeing thier flying type has access to a really strong grass move in a dungeon with a lot of water ground and rock types, will provide great interest in actually getting it going to help em with the thought time getting through cliffiside and unlock that so appealing evolution!
and this is not all, if they do choose to actually engage with the zubat hatch and train them and go use it to clear cliffside relic, they would most likely grow a attachment to the zubat and may want to keep it through out thier adventures,
which is where another little trick of our zubat buddy reveals itself,
it’s evo method from golbat to crobat, it’s sooth bell!
and soothbells aren’t excactly that easy to find as new player!
so picture this, a new player bonded with thier zubat after beating cliffside relic with it, and wishes to keep it for it’s end game team, and easily evolves into golbat and then they asks themselfs a question, how do i evolve golbat to crobat?
and so what would they do? well most likely then’ll be inclided to actually interact with our beloved to community to get a awser!
get advice, gifts (and maybe even buy it if the player market comes back to life)
but regardless, what this is trying to accomplish is well, some players may be quite shy and may fearful of asking or interacting with people,
i’m hoping the uncertanty of the evolution method of a friend evo, may nudge those shy players to open a little and get involved with the community!
and this has been my way too in depth theory crafting on why cliffiside having zubat eggs may be a pretty good idea, thank you for reading! and please share your thoughts, i’m gonna love reading them all!
