Ahem Please excuse what just happened above. Let"s continue, eh?
Ever caught that pokemon you"ve been hunting down for ages, only to find out it"s not the gender you want?
Did you proceed to go and capture multiples of that pokemon? Still not getting the gender you desired it to be?
Can"t RP with that pokemon because of its gender?
Finally! You hatched the pokemon you wanted from that Mystery Egg!
Such a shame it"s not the gender you were hoping for.
PMU challenges us in various ways. Throwing new dungeons/pokemon at us, to holding intense events. But this madness must come to an end!
To some, gender may not matter, right? It"s just another pokemon. And obviously, that"s ok. We all have our own opinion on things.
But to others, such as myself, the gender of the pokemon is ultimately important!
It takes a lot of motivation for me to crawl myself to Mt.Skylift for my daily training sessions.
In my mind: “What"s the point of training something you don"t want?”
Sure, it"s the pokemon you wanted. But what about its gender? Does that bug you?
Instead of going through the everlasting process of finally getting the gender you desire, why not make things more simple? At a cost, of course.
An item? An NPC? A place? Anything would be nice!
As my conclusion…
Feel free to say what you think about this suggestion. Thanks for reading!
Although I’m pretty picky myself when it comes to genders, I think that for those particular picky people, it’s a game of chance. Adds a purely cosmetic challenge. And usually you can recruit the same thing just as easily, unless it’s a rare Pokemon of course. I feel you, though. But I can’t see the point of something that changes your gender. You’re better off sticking to the relentless recruitment until you’re satisfied.
Genders don’t really serve a realistic purpose in PMU except for evolution. Changing a Pokémon’s gender for gender-specific evolution, I would understand, but changing it for any other reason I think is ridiculous. If you want a Pokémon to be a specific gender, that should encourage you to work harder to try to get it.
While I understand your feelings (most of Pokémon I want on my team are males and I want all of them to be females) I agree that gender changes can be a bit odd. If it’s something that you can’t do in PMD games (Like trading/selling Pokémon) I don’t know if it should be implemented In-game.
Sure, I’d be happy if this was implemented, but It may be a bit unfair. Though, seeing that genders are a bit pointless in PMU, the staff probably can think a way of implement this, but I don’t know when since there are other priorities in-game.
Overall, I would love if this could be added ingame. I’m quite picky myself, lol.
Unfortunately, I highly disagree with this. As useful as it could be, it kills a lot of the challenges of trying to get a gender-based Pokémon. Combee being a prime example. If I recall, it has a 75% chance of being male. Of course, Combee doesn’t evolve unless it’s female. So, the chances of getting a female Combee is pretty slim, right? Well, that’s kind of the point of Combee - it’s meant to be difficult to try and get a female one. Therefore, the idea of changing it’s gender is just bad in my opinion.
It’s not like that I don’t appreciate the idea, but it’s just something which I wouldn’t like to see. :p I apologise for my long rant, but eh.
Thanks for all your opinions guys!
Yes, I"m a very picky person :c.
The reason I actually made this suggestion, is because I just couldn"t stand the fact that I caught a total of 5 Male Eevees in FF yesterday. Not one female. Ridiculous, but hey, I guess that"s just luck.
Also, sorry Art! I didn"t realize there was another post about this.
Eevee in general have 12.5% probability to be female (1 each 8 eevees) so this is similar to isharky said.
One attack that you can help you to see what gender is the pokemon is attract, if the pokemon is opposite gender became infrauted and if you can teach to a male finneon for example and use the attack in the pokemon, if the attack doesnt work you can discard that poke and try with another, if you dont kill any recluitable pokemon(when you have an empty slot in your party) you have more chance when you see the poke you are searching you recluit the poke.
Guys, I have a bit of a solution. Why don’t we make it to where the pokemon we recruit on odd floors are male, and the ones we recruit on even floors are female? Of course, gender exclusive pokemon would be an exception. I think this is better than having a gender changer imo, and this is something they actually implemented in Explorers of Sky.

Well this is embarrassing. I didn"t know the chance of finding a female eevee was so low…dies.
I may just try that method of yours, by bringing a male pokemon with attract!
If that was the case, then all Milotic would be female since Feebas can only be found on Floors 20 and 30 in Southern Sea. But either than that, it’s a pretty good course of action since Pokémon could be shifted around to other floors.
I apologize if it’s been mentioned before, but perhaps there could be an item that raises the chances of Pokemon being a certain gender?
I think the floor specific one would be a bit troublesome. Some Pokemon only spawn on floor x and they would be exclusively one gender. I’d rather not move and adjust multiple dungeons either.
Out of curiosity, how many pokemon are specific to even/odd floors? Also, for the item that raises the chance of a pokemon being a certain gender, it sounds like a good idea if it was an item that didn’t have to be held in order to work. Otherwise people who need to wear a friend bow/ recruitment boosting item to recruit their pokemon would still have a lot of trouble. And if that’s the case: would it stack if you have more than one in inventory?

Keep in mind that Feebas is also located in Seafloor Ruins and not just Southern Sea, so there’s still a chance for a male Feebas! Though I am aware that Seafloor Ruins can be a total pain at times, but still.
