HM Passes

hello,
Im making this topic about HMs

sometimes its annoying to have to fill a slot just for a HM pokemon or your favorite pokemon cant learn it.
so instead of filling a slot in your team, why not in your bag instead.

now there would be a pass for each HM.

1 HM pass wont be for all so I suggest these:

Cut Pass
Smash Pass
Surf Pass
Dive Pass
Fly Pass?
Climb Pass
and any others I miss

:!!: some things about the passes:
*Can be LOST
*Must be EQUIPED
*Can be DROPPED (beware trip traps)

Q/A

1)What? cant a noob just get one from a player?

A: NO. These passes will have a certain rank requirement.

  1. what about places that has a requirement about pokemon. Ex: Sky Fortress with a flying type that knows Fly

A: Even though passes can be used at most HM blocks, there can be a few where you must fit the requirement. Here the pass cannot be used. you must have a HM slave Flying pokemon.

  1. Where can one get these?

A: I honestly feel like these should be rare dojo boss drops. But since most dojo bosses drop something, then I have no clue sorry.

4) So how many times can it be used?

A: As many times as you like.

  1. Doesn’t this defeat the purpose of HM moves?

A: Well it kinda does, but like stated in the 1st answer; you must be a certain rank before you can use them. meaning you will have to rely on HM moves for a while until you get to the rank needed.

Fun Fact: I originally thought of a HM NPC you pay 1k to but then scrapped the idea.

Well, many places that require HM moves to proceed have an assembly in front of the entrance anyway, but we’ll circle back to that point in a little bit. Also note that these same places have Kangaskhan rocks.

Fly Pass?

Not really necessary. All Fly is used for besides teleporting to other towns is entering Sky Fortress and since we agree that it shouldn’t work there anyway, it might as well not exist as a pass. In addition, every place where you can fly is in town, where you have easy access to a chimecho assembly.

*Must be EQUIPED

…Why must they be hold items if they’re completely useless in a dungeon? That seems highly unnecessary, considering that most people will just equip a different item before entering the dungeon, and store the item away if there’s a kangaskhan rock nearby. It’d be more of an annoyance than anything.

*Can be DROPPED (beware trip traps players complaining to staff)

FTFY

These passes will have a certain rank requirement.

Okay, this requires a bit more of an explanation. Do you mean that low rank players can’t use these items if they pick them up, or that they can’t even pick them up? Either way, having a rank restriction almost defeats the purpose of even having these passes. It’s usually the lower lvl dungeons that force players to enter with their HM slaves pokemon, since almost all of the higher lvl dungeons have assemblies anyway.

Now, I’m not shutting down your idea. I love it. In fact, I think it’s genius. It’s just that in order for it to work, we have to consider whom it will really help, and whether that group is a large enough amount of people to enforce it. Based on what you have here, it only seems to really help the higher rank players that keep forgetting their HM slaves before they head off in the direction of a dungeon. That, or people who can’t stand having to go to the assembly before and after each dungeon, but switching around these passes takes just as much, if not more effort than switching a pokemon or two.

In conclusion, your idea is great, but I think you should modify the restrictions of these items so that it can benefit a larger amount of players. Don’t make them hold items, don’t make them droppable (so at least whoever wants them can look for them themselves instead of buying them off of players), and don’t restrict who can use them. Anyway, I approve this idea. I hope you come up with a good idea as to where to get these passes.

Okay I agree here, Fly pass shouldn’t be a thing.

Let me explain why I say equipped; I say this because when its equipped it’ll allow the option to pop up when you interact with cut. so whenever you want to use it, it must be equipped. otherwise the option will not pop up. There are several dungeons that need to use HMs; Suana, sour root.

FTFY[/quote] I don’t get what your saying

Low level players can’t use them and they can’t pick them up. Rank restriction does matter. there are some paths you would take as a short cut; such as to winden or to skylift (rock smash path) where new players want to go through. Either they don’t have a good water or flying pokemon (lets be honest. theres not that many good water pokemon unless you get the starter.) to cross the water. By having the pass you already save some time. You save time from searching your assembly for the pokemon you need when you can just storage the pass.

Maybe the option could show up for just having it in your inventory instead. It would save a lot of trouble. Also, I think those are the only dungeons where HMs are used, and where you use them is right after the place where you get the respective HM. I suppose it could help players who don’t have a pokemon they’d be willing or able to delete a move slot from for the HM move… But still, probably better not to make it a hold item in order for it to work, but I guess it wouldn’t make too much of a difference for some people.

Thank you for explaining that. I didn’t consider the low lvl players that might try to reach dungeons that are too much for them to handle. But maybe instead of a rank restriction, you could make it a rare drop from a dungeon that’s the same lvl or higher than the dungeon where you’d receive the actual HM. And make them not droppable by players, but able to be sold, just like HMs. That’s just my suggestion though, since it seems to make a little more sense and would stir less confusion. As for the matter of saving time, I can see what you mean now, since there are players with a lot of pokemon in their assembly. I personally only use 6 (my main 4, my ghost, and my HM slave lol)
