So Ive been playing for many months now but one thing still bothers me to this day. Why is expansion so costly to do?
To expand my house by width another 7 times I needed around 52,000 poke. Doesnt that seem a bit much?
All critisism is allowed.

Probably so when mapping contests are around, instead of spending 1m Poke on your house fully expanding it, you get 50x50 house if you win. Honestly, I think the price is completely fine because of that. Any cheaper and mapping contests will become virtually useless. Though that being said, we never really get mapping contests anymore, haha.
Sure, perhaps the staff could change the rewards given in the contests? But lets be honest, I doubt that would happen. The rewards at the moment are (for 1st place:) 1st Place Ribbon, 15,000 Poke(I think) and 50x50 house expansion. Not too shabby if you ask me. I think we’re actually fortunate that we can expand our house in the first place.
But hey, that’s what I think, we all have opinions.~
It also acts as a money sink.
At the end game - that is, around lv70, you can do the big money dungeons like MJ, SF, DD and certainly TC along with other dungeons, where each run of these dungeons (apart from TC) will net you over 100k poke per run in money on dungeon floors and relics more often than not (even so…smallest i’ve ever gotten from SF was 70k, and same for MJ.)
So 1 million takes 6-14 full runs of most of the end game dungeons to get…which…honestly, can be done in one day if you have no life, and certainly less than a week even if you have a life.
What about revs you say? Add another run onto that of a given eng-game money maker dungeon…and the cost of supplies is more than covered. Still possible very quickly.
Not at end game? Then get there. No offense to anyone but if you want a big house then play the game, you’ll do more than enough runs of end game dungeons training mons to cover the cost of a fully expanded house. Plus…reward for playing.
Now I do not know how these mapping contests went or anything. I dont know if there was a limit in sizing or anything so I wont say anything about it.
It does seem a bit much though to expand only a small amount of space as at 2 tiles more it is already above 10k poke. Im not complaining but I just want to know why it is so expensive (Expensive to me because I never was good with getting money nor running a shop nor do I ever have items people want >.>)
Each tile is 500 Poke.
Latreon need monies?
I personally don’t have an issue with the expansion system. It’s a nice money sink for the economy at the moment (people have millions of Poke just lying around) and like Sharky mentioned, it’s a compelling prize - which would most certainly lose it’s value if the expansion costs were lowered.
In my opinion Poke isn’t really that hard to get - it just requires a bit of work. Silk hunting is a cool and fun way to make some money, it’s what I did before I became a staff (300k for one silk).
Yurp
I think a better and more consistent money sink would be to have (secret) shops in dungeons where you can buy rare items, such as TMs, EXP boosting items, family items, rare candies, etc. Besides, you can only expand your house so much can’t you? People will always need those items more than house expansions, which is moreso a luxury anyway.
Even better, you could have exclusive dungeons where it costs x amount (maybe 50,000 - 100,000 poke?) to enter it, and it’ll have exclusive pokemon with higher recruit rates than normal or maybe some exclusive items.
Dungeon entrance fees are an interesting idea, however, I don’t think it should offer rare items. I think leaving the desirable content as something purely aesthetic… ((is that the right word?)) (whether you want x Pokemon or not) is a lot better. A flood of rare items would drop their price significantly, and soon, they probably wouldn’t be rare at all.
