This is a random story I’ve been writing. I WON’T abandon this like I did the last one. …Probably :'D /shot
Aaaaanyways, it takes place in the PMD world, but it won’t focus around Mystery Dungeons and Guilds and Exploration Teams and all that jazz. Actually, it probably won’t even have them in it apart from a couple mentions here and there.
Enjoy! :3

CHAPTER ONE
In the Beginning
Once upon a time, our world was one of peace.
We knew nothing of hate, fear, pain. Hunger was never a threat, as greed did not exist yet; jealousy was a thing of myth. Our world lived in harmony, free from the dangers of life. But a society can only stay uncorrupted for so long.
Eventually, foreigners came to our world from across the ocean. We feared them, and we were greedy for our territory; we refused to share it with these strangers. There was much tension over the next few years, but even as our tolerance of the strangers grew, our negative feelings had already dug their way into our hearts.
It was once a weed; easily removed. But as no one removed it, it became a great tree…
The hatred cannot be stopped, but merely driven back. I wish not to chop it down, but to prune its intertwining branches, for if I start the process, then perhaps others will follow. One can make a difference, if they only have the will to do so…
I entrust the stars with my wish.
-~-~-
The light filtered into the room through the small, dirty window, dancing over the cracks over the floor. Flaxen hay was piled in one corner, but a good portion of it was laid busily over the rest of the room, and still more waltzed in the sun-illuminated dust motes. It was obviously not an inhabited place, long abandoned for some unknown reason. But something stirred in the hay, and a black nose poked out from the makeshift bed.
Violet the Zorua was a vagabond; she spent her life traveling the world, searching for who knows what. She herself had no clue why she was a wanderer; she just was. A Liepard can’t change its spots, and likewise, Violet couldn’t change the fact that she wanted to see the world. Was it adventure she wanted? Knowledge? Just something to brag about? Even after living this way for more than a year, she still wasn’t sure.
Crawling out of the hay pile, she shook herself, craning her head back to pull some of the straw from her mane. Sharp canines combed the black mess of hair, “styling†it into its usual state. Not quite perfect, but then again, Violet never was a perfectionist, especially when she needed to be on the move. She had no clue who owned this rundown shack, and no clue if they would appreciate a Zorua loitering on their property. Still, shelter was shelter, and she was glad she had found a decent place to stay for the night.
With a yawn and a stretch, she leaped up to the windowsill and kicked open the window, disturbing a layer of dust and grime which joined the already existing dust motes, causing a swirling effect. It was really quite pretty, but Violet had seen it all too many times, and by now she was even tired of it. If only she could find a way to earn some Poké, she could find a hotel to stay for the night. Maybe even a fancy one, who knows?
The grass here was far from soft; in fact, most of it was dead and brittle, snapping under her paws as she landed. She wouldn’t have been surprised if this place was abandoned altogether, but the nearby house that sheltered the property owners had a steady line of smoke rising from its chimney. It was nearing the end of autumn, but it was a bit early for the grass to die. Whoever they were, they seemed to neglect their property… but Violet wasn"t one to take chances.
Padding over the bristly ground, she returned to the rural dirt road and resumed her trek to nowhere. At least there was a town up ahead, if she remembered correctly. With a sigh, she kicked a rock, and it followed her down the path as she sent it flying with her forepaw whenever it landed. She smiled a bit as she heard the satisfying click of stone meeting gravel, the expression of a Persian toying with a Rattata.
She froze at the sound of voices up ahead, and narrowed her eyes. Cautiously, she crept forward to investigate. The voices got louder, and she realized… they were talking about art. What a bunch of sissies. Straightening up, she closed her eyes and held her nose high in the air, stalking past a pair of Pokémon who seemed to ignore her. Then she opened her eye just a bit, and the sight before her stunned her out of her wits.
There, on a huge plank of wood, was one of the most amazing pieces of art she had ever seen. It was a near-perfect replica of the sunset before her, complete with the pine trees that dotted the horizon, but it seemed distorted somehow, as if it were a scene from a dream. All through the painting, however, were three-dimensional features; the trees popped out with each branch in striking detail, and the sky receded from the horizon. The water from a far-off lake was complete with tiny, textured waves, and bird Pokémon preened their individual feathers in the shelter of the pines. Despite herself, she let out a little gasp.
On hearing her, the two Pokémon turned to face her; a Meowth and a Smeargle. The Smeargle was obvious, but she was confused as to why the Meowth was making art, too. It was obvious they both had skill though, considering the collaborative piece sprawled out in front of them.
“Hello!†cried the Smeargle cheerily, waving her tail in the air. Rather than looking like a paint-smeared mop, hers was cut to a crisp tip at the end, like a paintbrush built for precision. “Do you like it?â€
Violet stared in silence for a moment, trying to regain her breath, and then nodded. “I love it!†she replied. It wasn’t often that she loved something, especially something as useless as art, but this was truly a masterpiece. “How long did it take you?â€
“Few hours,†replied the Meowth, who had returned to his carving. “’Bout three or four, I’d say.â€
“Only three HOURS?†she exclaimed in disbelief.
“I’d say that’s about right,†concluded the Smeargle. “It’s not finished yet, though; I’d bet we have about an hour or two to go.â€
Violet was speechless. They weren’t even finished? She almost wanted to stay here and watch; something drew her to this remarkable work, and there was something intriguing about the Pokémon who were making it. She could use some friends, even if she would only know them for a short while. Even if they were artists. Perhaps she could even settle in the town up ahead. It sure had been a while since she had been stationary, but she figured it would be worth it. If she found a pair with this much talent outside town, what would she find once she was inside?
What was she thinking? She couldn’t settle down here. Not now. She still hadn’t seen the rest of the world yet!
“Mind if I stay and watch for a bit?†she asked after debating with herself for a while.
“Go ahead,†replied the Smeargle before returning to her painting.
Violet moved closer to the plank, and reached out with a paw as if to touch it. Stopping before she did, she glanced at the Meowth, who met her gaze and nodded, as if to give her permission. She ran her paw over the textured wood, feeling the trees and the grass and the Pidgeotto soaring in the sky. Removing her paw from the artwork, she stepped back a bit and sat.
“So what’s yer name, foreigner?†asked the Smeargle, taking Violet by surprise.
“Violet,†she replied.
“I see. Name’s Liz.â€
“Raze,†said the Meowth, refusing to take his eyes off his work.
“Nice to meet you!†added Liz, taking a little bow. “Now, if you don’t mind…†she turned back to the plank.
“No, not at all!†cried Violet. “Although, would you mind if I came back later? I’d like to go see the town.â€
Liz waved a paw dismissively, and Violet took it as a no; Liz and Raze wouldn’t mind. She didn’t want to disturb them any further for fear of distracting them and causing them to mess up. The Zorua picked herself up and started down the path again.
It wasn’t long before she saw the cluster of buildings that made up Luthia Town. It wasn’t the largest town ever, nor was it the most advanced of civilization, but it was humble and welcoming; precisely why a lot of Pokémon wanted to live here. Violet liked the town, and as she continued down the path, she began to catch glimpses of conversations that made her like it even more. Everyone here seemed to know each other, and like each other. Perhaps, if she settled here, she could be friends with all of them…
No. No, Violet, no. You’re not going to live here, and that’s the end of it. You’re here to explore.
With a sigh, she kept trudging down the dirt road, and finally entered “city limits.†Not that it was much of a city. A lot more like a cluster of a bunch of old houses. But as soon as she entered, she was noticed by someone.
“NO WAY, it’s a NEWCOMER!â€
Before she knew it, she was knocked off her feet by a tackle from what appeared to be a floating blob of jelly. It was probably supposed to be a hug, but considering it didn’t have arms…
She picked herself up with a grunt. “What the heck was that for?†she spat at the Solosis.
“Jiff! Get back here!â€
Violet turned to see an Abra walking over to them. Apparently the Solosis was named Jiff? She snickered inwardly. A fitting name for a blob of jelly.
Jiff stopped circling around Violet as he had been, and turned to the Abra. “But she’s new!â€
“And that means we need to make a good impression. Not everyone appreciates being glomped, especially from complete strangers.†The Abra folded his arms, and Jiff floated over to him to levitate beside him. “Well? Apologize.â€
“I-I’m sorry…†muttered Jiff sadly.
That was it. Violet couldn’t hold her laugh in any longer. “It’s fine!†she said between giggles. This pair was odd, but there was a comedic air about them. The little ball of jelly bouncing off the walls(literally) and a serious Abra who was constantly keeping an eye on him. “You two… are you always like this?â€
“Yeah!†cried Jiff.
“Unfortunately, yes.†The Abra paused for a second. “Well, my name’s Theodore, and as I’m sure you know, this is-â€
“JIFF!†Jiff grinned as he shouted his name.
“-Yes, Jiff. But who are you? I don’t suppose I’ve seen you around.â€
“No, I’m new here. My name’s Violet,†she said with a smile, still trying to hold in a laugh.
“Would you like us to show you around?â€
Without waiting for an answer, Jiff bolted off in the direction of what Violet assumed to be the center of town, shouting some victory cry that she couldn’t quite make out. “Sure,†she said, somewhat absently.
She and Theodore followed their bloblike friend, and they quickly arrived at a fountain in the very center of town. That seemed to be common tradition across the region; every town had some sort of fountain or similar centerpiece. As they walked past, Violet dipped her paw into the fountain playfully, flicking the water off of it as they continued on. Jiff whizzed to the back of the line and skimmed the water, shaking himself off as Violet had. She chuckled as he began following her, imitating her movements. Apparently she had a fan.
“Jiff, cut it out. I’m sure Violet doesn’t want to be bothered.â€
“No, it’s fine,†said Violet quickly. “I actually think it’s kinda fun! Like follow the leader or something.â€
“Suit yourself.
“Anyways, this is the town square. This is where everyone comes to socialize, and buy from the many shops.†Sure enough, various shops lined the edges of the square. Violet was drawn particularly to a trinket shop, but she’d have plenty of time to go there later.
Jiff wrinkled his “nose.†“Theoooo, you’re being boooooring again!â€
Violet laughed again, and Theodore crossed his arms. “You do better.â€
“Well, this is the square, where we all come to hang out! Like Theo said, there’s shops all over the place, and you can go inside and buy stuff. Plus, you can talk to any Pokémon you want here, because they’re all so nice and awesome! And they can tell you more stuff about this place!â€
“Very nice,†grinned Violet. Theodore remained silent.
Jiff zoomed off and began making circuits around the square, spouting something else that Violet couldn’t make out. Finally, the part of her that was against staying here leaned closer to wanting to stay…
“Theo! Where’ve you been?â€
Violet turned to see an Ivysaur, who had grabbed Theodore with one vine and was giving him a noogie with the other. Theodore looked like he was used to this, but he still looked irritated by it. “Get off, Sorrel,†he grumbled, pushing her vines away from him.
“Well we’re a bright ray of sunshine as usual, aren’t we?†Sorrel sat down and crossed her vines as if they were arms, and indeed she did use them almost constantly to replace her lack of them.
“Indeed,†replied Theodore, brushing himself off as if he had dirt all over him. Then again, Sorrel did look a bit dusty.
“SORREL!†The energetic ball of jelly slammed into the Ivysaur, but she seemed unfazed, as if she were expecting it.
“Hey, Jiff! Long time no see!†he turned to him, and he began flying around her in circles. “Theo’s been keeping you out of trouble, I’m guessing?â€
“He took me to the woods, and we went exploring!†cried Jiff. “It was so fun! Oh, meet Violet, ‘cuz she’s standing there all awkward and we want to make a good im… impy… impression!†He looked proud of himself for a moment for using the word “impressionâ€.
Both Violet and Sorrel laughed at the sudden change of topic, and Sorrel looked over at the Zorua. “I’m Sorrel. You’re a newcomer here, eh?â€
“Yep! Just passing through, though.†A pang of sadness shot through her as she said this. She wanted to stay, but…
“Aww!†Jiff whined, floating around her in circles. “You’re gonna leave?â€
“You should at least stay a night or two,†added Sorrel.
“I would, but I don’t have any Poké…â€
Sorrel reached into a bag she carried on her side, which Violet had only just now noticed. “Now you do,†she said, handing Violet a bag of Poké. “Also, you can spend the night at my place if you want!â€
Violet’s eyes widened, and she hesitated before taking the bag. “I can’t take all this!†she cried after taking a peek inside. There must have been at least ten thousand in there!
“Don’t worry; there’s more where that came from! I like handing out Poké, anyways. I’ve got too much of it.
“I’m an Explorer, you see, and I go out and do missions. But since I don’t work for a Guild, I get the full 100% of the reward,†she explained. “So I’ve got a bunch of Poké lying around.â€
“…Th-thank you!†Violet cried, smiling shyly. Here she was in the presence of some ridiculously rich Pokémon who was willing to give up some of her riches to a vagabond like her… she was liking this town more and more. Jiff was right; the Pokémon here were really nice!
“No problem!†replied Sorrel. “I need to get back to work now, though. Theo, you comin’ with?â€
“…Fine,†Theo replied. “Violet, would you mind to keep an eye on Jiff for a little while?â€
“It’d be my pleasure,†she replied. Jiff let out a squee noise in excitement.
“Well, good luck with the little goofball,†said Sorrel. “We’ve gotta get moving, so we can finish these missions before sundown…†she muttered as she set off.
Violet and Jiff stared in silence for a moment, and then Jiff turned to her. “Theo helps Sorrel do missions sometimes,†he said. “Usually I’m left on my own, but thanks to you I won’t be lonely!†He did his characteristic orbit around her.
Violet laughed yet again. “Well, let’s go explore then, shall we?â€
Jiff let out a shout and then zoomed off, Violet running along beside him.

And as one road ends, a new one begins; as friendships are lost, they reform again…
It is only through united hearts and joined hands that my wish will come true. There is one of the seven within each of us, and when seven join, then light will come. The flaws within us, united, will negate each other, and only then can we work together in harmony. And with harmony, I can be found…
It is only a matter of time before the circle is joined.

OMGAWD THIS IS TEN PAGES LONG I DON’T KNOW WHAT I WAS THINKING.
…And we still haven’t met all of the main characters. Asdf.
Also, whoever guesses what Pokémon is speaking at the beginning and the end gets cookies. Lots of them. Because it’s hard. Also, they’re not a legendary :P
But… yeah. I don’t have much to say except for the fact that Jiff is my favorite character as of now. Especially his name. If you don’t get it, Jiff is a name of a brand of peanut butter, and Solosis are kinda like jelly… :'D
Oh, and also, all of the main characters were chosen with a random generator. 'Nuff said.
Hope you liked it! X3

…Okay I lied ;A;
So, since pretty much everyone does this with ongoing stories, I’m going to include a form so you can give me some characters to use. There’s no guarantee I will, but it’s worth a try, right? Just nothing too crazy; like no major powers or appearance changes.
Name:
Gender:
Species:
Personality:
Appearance:
History:
Other:
Yes, they’re all required except for Other. Even history, because something may come up where I’ll have to mention it. It doesn’t have to be too detailed, don’t worry! :3
Okay. I’m done now. Thanks for reading :D
