Make Sandy Shallows Pikachu evolve into Alolan Raichu

Like Sandy Shallows Exeggcute, this is the perfect setting to implement Alolan Raichu. The sprite is already in the game. It makes perfect sense to get Alolan Raichu in this way, and it will also know Surf, which makes perfect sense.

Tbh, when I heard of the Surf Pikachu I thought, wow this is a really cool way to implement Alolan Raichu! Big bummer that this wasn’t the case, but I think this can be solved easily.

Or is this planned after an HC release? Still I don’t see why this Pikachu doesn’t become Alolan.

Yeah, I also found it rather bizarre this wasn’t the source of an Alolan Raichu, given how it’s obtained.

I agree with this. It’s the perfect setting to implement Alolan Raichu into the game. Now if it will actually be done is the question.

Can we get some input regarding this? For example, is this a planned feature?

The team has recently discussed this. It’s planned once we update our evolution system to support evolving from one form to another. There is a considered workaround in the meantime however it can lead to issues in the long run.

I read in the forum that it has to do with the different forms… Is it because pikachu has male and female forms? Hasn’t been an issue with Exeggcute. Or is there a way to manually change Raichus into alolan Raichus for players?

Yes I believe that is exactly what he is referring too, the ability to make already existing pokemon a different form without doing in manually, staff have the ability to change alolans to normal forms, and vice versa, as anyone who has experience an alolan form hat glitch already knows. To explain it deeper from my understanding is that each different pokemon has specific dex numbers in the code, and different forms then have to use the exact same dex number or things go wacky, but even this way thing already go wacky, as seen with the many issues with alolan forms, the code is being reworked to allow multiple pokemon to have the same dex number but be separate pokemon (Alolans, Meowistic, and Lycanroc), given how smoothly shinnies run I assume that we are tasting the labors of the staffs exploits into this field.

Sorry for continuing this thread after 2 years, but would replacing SSh with A-chu rather that surfchu as a workaround while waiting on the update of the evolution editor.

I’m giving this thread another bump because nothing has happened and no one replied to Arti, despite his good suggestion.

If the evolution editor is the issue and it’s hard to fix, we should be looking for other temporary solutions that don’t hurt the game. May I also include that it was promised the Alolan forms would be released after the first Summer Resort, but this never happened.

  • Alolan Raichu could definitely replace Surf Pikachu (Pikachu learns surf since gen 8 anyway)
  • Alolan Marowak can fit in so many different dungeons, it shouldn’t be an issue either.
  • Not sure what to do about alolan exeggutor considering it’s current situation.

I am hoping we can comfortably release Galarian evolutions in the future as well, so they don’t have to be on the waiting list for years. It’s not a big deal to recruit some evolved pokémon instead of their basic forms. And whenever the evolution editor is fixed, we can even replace the evos with the basic forms if that’s truly what people desire.

I honestly agree with this one. With Pikachu now learning surf, there’s no longer the “exclusiveness” to the pikachu. In fact, this could be a more permenant change, like lapras.

Currently, SSh’s A-exeggcutes evolved into them. Remove those exeggcutes and just throwing alolan exeggutor as a stand-alone recruit in a later range could honestly solve this problem, like from 11-20F instead of 1-20F (don’t quote me on the floor i can’t remember the exact range)

Following internal discussions, we have implemented this change in the form of making the NPC in Sandy Shallows’s Secret Room an Alolan Raichu. Best of luck to those who wish to obtain Alolan Raichu in Sandy Shallows!
