Certain areas of Red and Blue games were meant to have evolutions for certain pokemon and never did. Cubone originally had an evolution between Cubone and Kangaskahn. (Sorry if I butcher some names, I don’t have them right off hand.) Anyways, There was another one too, the fact that the one (Actually called MISSINGNO. and not 'M (??) ) was for an evolution after Kabutops. It’s sprite would appear as the Kabutops fossil in battle, then later would be randomized pixels. Or, at times, appear as randomized pixels in battle when encountered, as well.
Anyways, maybe having a purpose for MISSINGNO. and 'M (??) would be cool.
I know many people would not support this, so hear me out here:
Having some custom purpose, having Kangaskan hold a baby egg for an event once every year, and have it hatch into the baby from it’s pouch. Have it evolve once, with a custom sprite and some armor plates, then have that evolve into Kangaskahn.
Also, make some cool sprite after Kabutops, like, have it be blue instead of brown, maybe some scyths like Scyther, maybe call it Kabuking.
While the idea is unique, I think it might be a bit out of the blue for PMU. PMU is not known to use Fakemon, nor to use Missingno for anything other than missing sprites. Honestly, we can already recruit Kangaskhan, so having some malformed glitch evolve into Kangaskhan isn’t really necessary. Also, Kabuking is really just a Fakemon, something that PMU isn’t going to have. PMU is, at the moment, solely focused on gathering sprites of Gen 5/6 Pokémon we’ve not obtained for the game yet. So I don’t think the addition of Fakemon would be helpful for the progression of the game.

I completely understand where you’re coming from.
That’s why I was saying “Do it later, as an event” or something.
But on another note: I understand not wanting to use Fakemon either, some of the fakemon are innopropiate designs not suitable for children. I’m saying maybe take fan ideas every so often.

(Also, another idea of mine would be to make Kabutops evolve to Kabuking with the King’s Rock.)

Although it would be nice if Kabutops got an evolution, it’d still be considered a “Fakemon”. PMU can’t afford even one fan idea for a Pokemon slip in, because then other people would use that as an excuse to try to throw theirs in as well. While it is fun to invent new Pokemon, implementing them into the game would break the foundation that PMU is based upon, and that’s the canonical Pokemon everyone has come to know and love. When we start to expand outside that border, we lose the meaning behind playing a Pokemon-based game, and people will soon decide to stop playing.
More specifically, adding to an evolution line would take a lot of work because we’d have to consider new moves, stats, abilities, maybe typing, its sprite, and that’s not even considering whether we should provide an evolution for Kabutop’s counterpart, Omastar.
In general, PMU should and always will stick to the Pokemon that are created by the actual company. I don’t mean to shut down your idea though. If you feel like making artwork for your idea or planning out its moves or abilities, go right ahead! We encourage creativity and we’re open to seeing what you come up with. Just know that it won’t be added into the game for the reasons specified above. :D
I can see where you’re both coming from, Introducing one fan made idea could make more pokemon demand them, and over time, they would crush the idea of PMU, and it might aswell close down.
I think the idea, and the general concept is pretty cool and interesting. However, as Steele pointed out, PMU isn’t very keen on the addition of fakemon. It more or less ruins what we’ve worked on so far. We do however, at times, consider the possibility of ‘special’ or ‘different’ Pokemon. Such as a summer Abomasnow, or a double boned Cubone, something different. Not new Pokemon, just edits made to already existing ones.
Putting everything that"s been said aside, I think fakemon could just confuse people in general. But you could always still make something like Kanga without the baby in it"s pouch for an event. :3
You could still just share you fakemon on the forums though if you really like your ideas for it. :D
