New Guide for Players

Hello! I’m new to the forums here and I’d like to post an idea or two on someone else’s behalf. Recently, someone has suggested a better way to guide new players through the very beginning of the game. Many players, after very unhelpful guidance from a certain Buneary, are thrown into Grassroot Town lost and confused about what they need to do. They don’t know anything about the mission board, how to get to the beginning dungeons, and for some, are clueless about the services within town. Well, one player suggested that there be an npc that you meet upon arriving in town that guides you to where the mission board is. Then, the mission board could have special tasks for these new players that asks them to speak with different characters throughout town, like the Kecleon brothers or Electivire, to get a quick idea of what their services are for, and offers a reward in return. Personally, I think this could take the form of 2 E rank jobs. Then there could be 3 E rank jobs that direct you to Tiny Grotto, Seaside Cavern, and Pebble Cave, in the form of a rescue, delivery, and escort mission, which would be the same for each player. After that, the player could work on normal, random jobs like everybody else, with the knowledge of what they’ll be able to do for the future.

Now, I know this might have been a long and confusing read, but I’d be happy to answer anyone’s questions about it. I didn’t come up with the idea, I just support it, and it’s highly possible I didn’t translate the idea as accurately as I could have onto here. I know this is very confrontational of me, and it’s probably none of my business, but I feel like this won’t ever be put into action if I decide to say nothing. I don’t expect this idea to be put into practice right away, especially since there are issues that still need to be worked out, but I think we can eventually find a way to work around those problems. I respect whatever decision the pmu staff makes, and I know they have higher priorities right now, but all I ask is that they consider this with careful thought, maybe even help tweek it a bit, and put it on the agenda. I think this idea, with a little modification, could really help new players and reduce the amount of people that decide to quit after the first day of playing. I know people are going to disagree, but if so, I’d like to know whether there is a way to improve upon this idea. I hope that we can look at this carefully and successfully come up with a better solution as a result. Credit goes to Rubickx for this idea. Although I don’t know how accurately I explained his idea, I’d like to think I at least came close. Again, thank you for reading, and I apologize if I did anything wrong. So, now that that’s out of the way, what do you guys think?

Well, i believe you explained this idea wonderfully! And of course I love it. A longer tutorial that introduces you most likely everything in town AND involves missions couldn’t be taken as a bad suggestion. Really, you guys came up with an excellent idea. :joy:
