I have seen a few SSB fans (Super Smash Brothers fans) having complaints about the new Sony fighting game, PSASBR (Playstation All-stars Battle Royale) being a absolute copy of SSB. I have played SSB on my Wii and seen gameplays of PSASBR and I have observed them. PSASBR and SSB are both Character brawlers that also involves some characters that aren’t really known to be fighter. They both have similar camera perspectives and gameplay elements.
Here I am making a list of similarities and differences between the two:
Blocking
PSASBR:
- Blocking can be preformed with NO LIMIT on any platform.
- Aerial evasions can be preformed while blocking.
SSB:
- Blocking has a limited amount of time. If your bubble pops (holding it for too long), you will become immobilized.
- Aerial evasions can be preformed while blocking.
- Blocking can deflect projectiles.
Stage Control
PSASBR:
- To defeat a foe, you must use super attacks (any level, 1, 2, or 3) regular KOs like in SSB series don’t apply.
- Characters can not grab the edge of a stage.
- Since their is no regular knock-outs, it is important to collect AP orbs to level up your power.
SSB:
- Smash Bros.’ main gameplay is to knock your foe off the stage to score points or knock off stocks your foe is holding.
- Characters can grab the edge of a stage.
Strong Attacks
PSASBR:
- Strong attacks tend to make characters paralyzed and unable to recover.
- Strong attacks can be great at getting foes out of the way (or making space) while trying to get AP.
SSB:
- Strong attacks are used to get Wins and KOs
- When foe is at a high percentage, strong attack become more effective. Making the foe unable to recover before it gets knocked off the stage.
Final Smashes and Super Attacks
PSASBR
- Super Attacks are the only way to win, the attack gets stronger when gaining AP (starting from level 0 - 3)
- Grabing may knock some AP off the foe.
SSB:
- Smash balls appear randomly.
- Final smashes can be gained by destroying the smash ball.
- Final smashes are only effected if the foe has enough damage the attack can take. (Depending on which Final smash is being used).
Whether you are a fan of brawlers of not. Both games are great to play and have their own ups ad downs.
(If you have found anything else in both games, please tell me!)
