Plot idea(s)

{{Note:: These suggestions are listed in points, as that’s how my train of thought normally works when I plan out things}}
-You’re the child of a famous explorer
-Want to be like Dad
-Pokemon all over know Dad’s team, Team Morning Star, and they know the names of all of the children that are part of Team Morning Star. (Team Morning Star is a team that travels from region to region and currently only a few members of Team Morning Star are in the PMU regions.)
-Lots of nice people helping you
-Story tile in the middle of town w/some ordinary town NPCs talking about Cliffside and evolution
-Story tile on the way to Cliffside about the water temperature in Winden’s Sauna being too hot because of some weird phenomenon going on in the underground. (Mentions Winden Pass and that you should evolve first)
~NOTE: The game will still have free reign, but will give purpose and slight direction.
-Story tile on the way to Winden Forest mentioning many missing Pokemon in Tanren Dungeons. (Mentions where Tanren Tunnel is and reccomends that you be level 40)
-Story tile in Tanren Inn mentioning treasure at the bottom of the ocean in Archford.

Tutorial Revisions that fit into the plot ideas above
{{Also in points}}
-SCRAP BUNEARY AND EXBEL WOODS
-Revise the opening sequence a bit
-Tutorial is Team Morning Star’s leader, Jupiter (Sigilyph), taking you to Exbel from somewhere
-Jupiter uses THEY/THEM pronouns
-MUSIC IS NOT THAT ANNOYING EXBEL WOODS MUSIC (would prefer ORAS) Route 101)
-Jupiter’s dialogue can’t be repeated by walking back to the beginning, but some signs say the important things that they do.
~NOTE: Jupiter is a calm and to the point person. They don’t use “like” a lot or pause too many times. They also don’t use cute words and rarely use the word “friend”, instead opting for words like “ally”.
~New tutorial dungeon has things of varying types, rather than just normal and flying.
-First floor explains attacking and PP
-Second explains HP, items, and Belly
-Third explains Traps and status effects
-Fourth explains weather and some abilities that change it.
-Fifth explains recruits.
-Upon entering Grassroot from the Crossroads, a Weavile passing through starts talking to you.
-Khion, the passing Weavile, leads you through Grassroot and points out the Inn, Electivire, Storage, Assembly, the Mission Board, the Housing Center, Delite Plaza, the Dojo, Grassroot Bazaar, and the Kecleon shop while explaining them.
-Khion may be seen in other regions. This will be up to staff, although he is actually an outlaw. Why someone so kind and helpful is an outlaw is a complete mystery.

I like the idea of bits of story in regions. New players could get a little more sense of direction in PMU. But might be hard to understand if info is out-of-context, such as when they mention a place you never heard of and don’t know where it is. Maybe not everyone wants to be like Dad as an explorer? Actually, not everyone wants to be an explorer either in PMU.

That’s pretty much an easy solution. Just pull off a Tanren? That worked pretty well considering it was your first visit.
Also, hearing about a place you’ve never heard of is sort of the thrill to go and explore what it is! Where’s the enthusiasm!

That being said, I definitely agree with some regional stories. However, it’s probably a little too late for that now especially since a lot of players have already gotten past all regions. So it would be out of context to slot one in like that.

This is also something I definitely agree with. The tutorial was pretty boring and lack lots of important factors that benefit the player of PMU. Such as party’s!
That being said I have heard several rumors that it will be changed, so lets see what happens.

I can’t say i don’t like your ideas because i love them! … however one dominant aspect of PMU is you choose what you do and leave your legacy in your own way. You wanna be a mapper. Map. you wanna be rich. scam. You wanna troll . be all the banned players etc idk if a set story could work is what i’m saying :P

I kinda like Exbel Woods, but a new tutorial in its place would be a welcome change since it could serve as an opportunity to introduce characters or in general act as a more in depth tutorial.

I agree with Whimsy on a few of these points, when it comes to MMO’s, plots that (for example) make the player hugely important in the grand scheme of things rarely work since many others who are also important also are off on the same adventure.

Team Morning Star itself sounds interesting, harks back to Blue Rescue Team’s Team A.C.T. and a team guiding you through a revamped tutorial sounds cool. The stories you mentioned specific to certain dungeons would be good too since it would make individual dungeons feel more fleshed out, as if they have more lore to them than simply somewhere to train or complete once; and the foreshadowing of other dungeons is quite clever, would fit well.

For tutorial, the concern is that it’d get too bogged down in specifics. Fine line between giving enough information and giving too much. The Weavile tutorial at Grassroot sounds useful since I still forget where things are :joy: , and the idea of a recurring NPC (or a few) is certainly a good idea, keeps the game’s story held together in some ways, a little like the Slowking from Sky Fortress.

And idle curiosity, but why? Sounds an oddly specific detail.
