PMU7's 7 Best Abilities in The Game

I was bored this morning and I always had the thought in my mind to make a list like this so here we go~

Disclaimer: Pokemon abilities that boosts stats aren’t really significant compared to boosts they get from their family items/dusts/silks. For this reason abilities related to this will not be on the list. Also, once a Pokemon reaches a certain level, stats doesn’t really matter.

This top list is geared towards the abilities that help players do the following:

Clearing dungeons more comfortably

  • Finding Rare Pokemon/Shinies
  • Collecting More Poke
  • Killing NPCs(Wild Pokemon)

1. Honey Gather:

The user has a (level/400) chance of getting a Honey on dungeon floor entry when it is eligible to get one. Conversely, the user gets a chance of 0.25% per level for that. (ex) lv 100 it’s 25%, lv 50 it’s 12.5%, etc.)

Honey Gather is the most convenient way to get one of the best items in the game: Honey. Honey is one of the most versatile items in PMU just because it spawns pokemon. These uses are:

  • Spawning pokemon to have a higher chance to find shinies/rare pokemon

  • Spawning rare pokemon that are exclusive to secret rooms/end rooms

  • Spawning pokemon to high level dungeons to gain more experience points while training

For those reasons, honey is one of the most on demand items in a non-lucrative market right now. If you want to make money easily, you want to farm this item as often as you can. For these reasons, almost every active player has a pokemon with honey gather, most of the time at level 100.

2. Cloud Nine:

Cloud Nine is an Ability that removes weather on map entry.

A majority of dungeons after Exbel have weather that sets the player back whether it be sunny when using a water pokemon or fog/sandstorm/foggy just being irritating on the eyes. That’s why having an ability that clears weather allows players to dungeon more comfortably and easily.

What sets Cloud Nine apart from Drizzle/Drought/Snow Warning etc. is the introduction of one of the best items on PMU: Weather Rocks and Event Token Shop Crystal/Gems. A brief description of weather rocks: An item that gives the effect of a weather to the team when held depending on the rock. Weather Rock+ a crystal/gem that compliments each other in terms of weather lets you have full use of the crystal/gem …. as long as you’re using Cloud Nine before you enter each floor.

A lot of shiny/dungeon speedrunners use Cloud Nine+Weather Rock+Crystal/Gems combination to run through the dungeon as fast they can. It’s one of the best combos on PMU and if you’re not using it then you’re missing out.

3. Chlorophyll/Swift Swim/Sand Rush/Slush Rush:

If the weather is sunny/rainy/sandstorm/hail respectively, the Pokémon’s attack speed is doubled.

These abilities are lumped together in one spot because they all double attack speed depending on the weather.

Using these abilities is basically like using Agility in PMD, but your speed never goes back to normal. You’re at liberty to attack twice as often as other pokemon as long as your weather is up. With PMU’s mechanics this ability is stronger in the sense that it’s possible for players to attack up to 3 or 4 more times before pokemon have a chance to respond.

A quadruple combo of Cloud Nine+Weather Rock+Crystal/Gem+One of These Abilities makes a truly unstoppable combo. You’re never gonna use reviver seeds when you have this combo in dungeons.

4. Speed Boost/Quick Feet:

A Pokémon with this Ability always has their movement speed boosted by one stage.

Once one of the best abilities in PMU, falls down a couple of spots because of the introduction of event token Crystals. Now that every pokemon has the opportunity to have speed boost because of Crystals this ability isn’t as powerful, but that doesn’t mean it’s not good. Pokemon with this ability can run speed boost/quick feet without having to invest money and inventory space with the weather rock/Gem combo.

This ability is very potent if you’re a new player and do not have access to the end game items such as weather rock/crystal/gems, but still want to dungeon very quickly. The faster you run a dungeon, the more time you have to run it again.

5. Drought/Drizzle/Snow Warning/Sandstorm:

When a Pokémon with Drought/Drizzle/Snow Warning/Sandstorm enters a floor or is already on the floor when it is entered, the weather on the floor becomes sunny/rainy/hail/sandstorm respectively.

Another ability that falls a couple of spots because of the introduction of weather rocks. Weather rocks+cloud nine is more accessible than these abilities which lowers the worth of these abilities, however they are still viable.

Moves that target NPCs (such as Blizzard 100% accuracy in Hail/Fire type moves being boosted from Sun) aren’t boosted by weather rocks because the weather of NPCs is different from the player using a weather rock technically. This differentiation from weather rocks plus these abilities not using up inventory space is the reason why these abilities hold a place in this list.

6. Frisk:

When entering a new floor as the Pokémon, all hidden items will become visible. The player must refresh the map when using Frisk for the hidden items to appear.

Yet another ability that falls a spot or two because of the introduction of an item, this time its Treasure Specs. This ability is still one of the best in the game giving you the ability to find rare items more easily such as Covet Fossils,Star Pieces,Comet Shards and Invisible Eggs on walls. Frisk however, is missing one quality that other top spots help with, finding and killing NPCs faster/easier.

Other than honey gather, this ability helps you collect money because of the possibility of finding rare items. This may be 6th on the list, but is the 2nd best ability in the game if players are trying to collect more money.

7. Pressure:

If the user is targeted by a move, the opponent consumes twice the amount of PP, even if the move misses.

For the last spot, I decided to add an ability that barely anyone talks about: Pressure. This ability isn’t really useful for players, however it can be a real nuisance when fighting NPCs with pressure. Instead of wasting 1PP to kill a pressure pokemon, you’re wasting 2PP, 4PP instead of 2PP, and the numbers keep getting worse with more uses. Players are going to inherently waste more PP items on dungeons with pokemon Pressure which can mess with inventory management and money for buying said items.

Deoxys is one of the most powerful bosses in the game because of Pressure. You’re only gonna get half of those razor leafs turtwig,.

Thanks to the PMU Wiki Team: I stole their descriptions for most of the abilities on this list.

Thanks for reading and if you think an ability should be mentioned here or if an ability here is too high/low on the list mention it in chat. I want to read your opinions on the top abilities in the game.
