Pokemon Gifts: Make Them Tradeable

Hey. It’s me again. Ya boi, back at it again with the topics related to monetization or loss of money! Aside from that, I’m here to put forward a suggestion: Make Pokemon Gifts (Pokegifts for short since I don’t want to be saying Pokemon Gifts this entire thread) tradable.

Disclaimer: This entire suggestion comes from entirely selfish intentions, but it’s still a very serious suggestion for the betterment of the community. I’d prefer a honest answer over an overanalysis of ‘how I put too much stock in digital currency’. I do, but that’s okay.

It’s always been nonsensical to me, that the Pokemon Gift has always remained an elusive, untradeable and ungiftable (to other players, anyway) item.

Here’s the thing here, though. Literally no one knows why it’s untradeable, undroppable, anything like that. Even I’m not entirely sure why this is the case. They were tradeable for 1 (one) Winter/Christmas HC, and then never again. I believe I was also the one who made the mistake of pointing out that it was still tradeable and droppable after the time period, although it was in goodwill at the time and my good deeds as a citizen come to confuse me as I realize that you never repeated said event for any recurring Christmases, for whatever reason.

Why do I bring this up as a suggestion? Well, it’s out of a place of selfishness and the fact that 9 are filling up said storage. I think I’m hardly alone in the matter, though, and I believe that it’d be more of a positive to allow these to circulate rather than stick around in people’s Kangaskhan Storages.

Another reason is that it can be put to use elsewhere, and as an item, generally well appreciated for the convenience it provides. It gives you a chance to recruit things that you otherwise wouldn’t ever have a chance to recruit. It also gives more veteran players a way to help out newer players in a more true-to-style way by allowing those newer players to recruit Pokemon that they otherwise would absolutely struggle with recruiting due to rarity and not having access to the recruit-boosting items that grace the inventories of those who’ve made it to endgame content. So to speak, it’s much less needed as an item for endgame content than it is for players in earlier stages of the game.

Mechanically speaking, a Pokegift isn’t exactly broken to begin with. It’s simply a manipulation of the luck of the draw, to turn a small percentage into a 100% chance. You can’t recruit something with it if there’s no chance to begin with, that is. It’s a tool to help people really close the gap without worrying about RNG, and it’s a lot more useful to people without the access to those resources than those with those resources.

It lays itself to waste when said person has no interest in recruiting Pokemon, however. I’ll be using myself as an example a lot, but it does frustrate me to hear people failing to recruit the shinies they want just because it’s just a chance missed, even with high RR. However, Pokegifts are the bandaid to the RNG game of shiny hunting. Most people can’t offer many solutions to stuff like that other than ‘git good’ or ‘tough luck, buster’. Pokegifts are the remedy to that problem, but they aren’t even tradeable.

Thus, lies my suggestion: Make them tradeable. I’d like to see the reasons why they shouldn’t be tradeable, if there are any reasons at all.

They were planned to be tradeable but then they went back on what they said so RIP gifts

If they aren’t, sure–but I and basically everyone else wants to know why.
That’s all I wanted to express, I agree In summary since I cannot think of one (1) reason they shouldn’t/can’t be tradeable. I’m sure players could make quite a bit from selling them, so It would be good for the economy. Personally I’d try to buy at least one because there’s several shinies I want to get eventually. Do they not know, Is there really just no reason? If either are the case why can’t they say that? Not getting an answer to such a simple question Is frustrating :(
I know Andy did say there were plans for them but that still Isn’t exactly an answer.

I totally agree. I know regifting is frowned upon but I think in this situation it’s a good thing!
