Possibility of earlier or maybe two events to account for time zones

I’m on mobile so please excuse how choppy the formatting is. Also I may be the only person who has this issue. I could be whiny so if you think I’m speaking on too many players behalf let me know. And I’ll just accept it as is.

I’m hoping to just get some general opinions on the topic.

Let me say that this isn’t too big of a deal, at most it’s a slight inconvenience however I still feel like it might be worth discussing. I’m just gonna post my points in a simple format. Also let me say that I totally understand that we’re all humans who have lives and our own business to take care of. So events just might not happen or may be a little late, it’s fine when things like that happen.

Issue: Timezones make attending events for European players a bit difficult. Events are consistently at 10pm CET (going off discord announcements). I can’t speak for everyone but I’m usually long dead asleep by that time on Sundays. Most people tend to work or have school the following morning and sacrificing sleep for PMU just isn’t worth it. Only time I can get to events is if my schedule has changed due to night shifts.

I get that the European playerbase is much smaller compared to the North American one. (When I’m playing in the morning-mid day there are maybe 15 players online at a time compared to around 40 whenever it’s midday to NA) So it’s understandable why the staff team may want to cater (for lack of a better term) to the NA playerbase.

Potential resolutions:

  1. Maybe hold events 1-2 hours slightly earlier.
I think this might be able work. 8-9pm is still a bit late (for me) but to average European player I don’t think it’s that bad and would maybe help them attend events.

  2. Hold two events.
This one has two issues that would make it hard to pull off.
It’d put more work on staff, which they may not have the manning for and staff would have to make a list of players names who attended the first event so people don’t get double the rewards. (This also brings the issue of alt. accounts which would be very hard if not impossible to prevent)

  3. More ways to earn tokens outside of events
I think what was done in the recent HCs was pretty good. Allows players to get tokens in their own time and staff doesn’t have to be present.

Anyway I’m just throwing ideas around. I’m more of a fan of the third option. Again this issue isn’t that big of a deal, I’m not in desperate need of tokens. Just looking for discussion.

Anyway I’m tired of typing on mobile, what do you all think?

definitely agree i have suggested adding a weekly source of tokens in a special dungeon in the past but the idea kinda faded away so maybe it could be brought back up. This dungeon would have to be somewhat challenging since tokens are quite a prize but if it was limited to once a week or so then everyone would have a semi consistent token rate even if they missed events whether due to timezone/commitments/etc

Adding more opportunities for event tokens will still favor those able to make all of them, and as you mentioned, on Sunday a number of people would like to be getting to bed earlier rather than later.

Additionally, and while this may not be an issue anywhere close to the start time being rather inconvenient for European players, Sunday is also a day more religious (Specifically those adhering to Christianity) individuals might be spending significant portions of in church.

I don’t think more events is an effective solution for a staff team already (to my observation) strained for time and manpower. However, I would like to propose potentially moving events to Saturday, in addition to rolling them back an hour or two.

Granted, Sunday at 4 EDT/EST is perfectly doable for me, so I’m running on the assumption there’s a significant number of players who this change would benefit versus those who this would lock out of events. So would anyone who finds this date and time harder to work with perhaps speak up?

EDIT: Also, as far as stuff actually bought with event tokens goes, I’d much rather they all be silly fun items rather than the globes/gems/crystals which are currently central to lategame progression. Though finding a way to decouple those from weekly events without destroying their value is another discussion entirely. Just thought it might be worth mentioning here.

Moving items such as globes away from tokens would be a nice alternative. Majority of players who seek tokens really just want those items. I wouldn’t mind events being so late if I had another method of obtaining those items.
