last night in seed’s server i was talking about how i didn’t have much fun when i started playing and how i probably would have quit if i didn’t join during the holiday thing and get some nicer pokemon. i’m not sure how any of the other starters are so i don’t know if people are going to say i’m complaining for no reason but it feels like starting with skitty makes the game so much harder when you’re trying to figure out the controls and mechanics. it feels like an unofficial hard mode for people that like pink cats.
if getting rid of skitty as a starter won’t work maybe make a room in the starter place for “hardcore” starters, that are just pokemon that probably shouldn’t be picked for a first time player if they don’t want an extra challenge
I get that skitty can be annoying to start with, however, getting rid of it entirely doesn’t seem like a solution as it technically is a pmd starter. I feel like a tile with the warning of a hard core room also isn’t needed as the pmd starter room is kinda out of convience.
this game has a lot of mechanics that are weird and hard to understand. learning how the game works with something that’s worse than what you can find running around the overworld isn’t fun. maybe i don’t understand how pokemon games work, but i thought starters were supposed to be sort of strong pokemon to help you get used to how the game works, not something that you replace with the first bird you find because it’s way better.
and i don’t think it’s good as a starter because if you want to evolve it you have to depend on people being nice and sure i guess it’s a good way to get used to the community but sometimes you want to get things yourself.
maybe i play the game wrong but the only way i could keep using my starter without wanting to rip my hair out was just make her support and that feels wrong
