A forum regarding the idea of incorporating shiny pokemon into PMU! Basically, an NPC will stand somewhere, possibly in town, and will give each player one shiny rock. This shiny rock is non-tradeable and non-droppable. Each player will only ever receive one shiny rock, however, will be warned by the NPC to use it wisely! Using the shiny rock turns the currently used pokemon shiny–though before it turns shiny, there will be a yes or no command action. It is understandable to decline this idea, for shiny sprites are not yet included in PMU7. Although I recognize this setback, there are still possible ways to recover old shiny sprites. Additionally, if that is not the case, and it would take a laborious amount of time to create all the shiny sprites, I would not mind waiting!
Shiny pokemon have always been a purely cosmetic thing. Back in the days of PMU 6, they were tied to events, but it was somewhat rare to see them… they just were sort of… never truly given much spotlight
The main factor going against this, is something you’ve already mentioned, the fact they don’t ( I’m assuming here) have shiny versions of most pokemon to use. PMD games just have never had shiny pokemon to collect really, so they’d have to be made to be used, ect.
I’ve nothing against seeing them make a return in some fashion, be it easy to get or a chore. But I don’t think it’s something that will, in the end, ever happen, unless you are going to make a shiny version of each and every Pokemon we are missing to use.
I agree! ^.^
However, I deem it important enough for me to at least try
Things tend to move at a glacial pace when it comes to ideas on PMU sadly…
Idea has my support, but it needs someone that can make the sprites, that’s truly the only large blocking factor for it from what I can see.
I have no opinion regarding shiny Pokemon because as Kiyora said, it’s purely cosmetic. Though I doubt this will be implemented in the near future due to PMU’s lack of shiny sprites.
I can’t confirm that this idea will ever be used in PMU, but I sure support it and it’s definitely something I’d like to see happen.
Maybe I can finally get my shiny Drifloon OC in PMU…
hehe
I wouldn’t mind helping if this gets approved. I mean, it’s just a sprite recolor.
Considering it takes less than 5 minutes to make a shiny sprite - from experience - I believe issues would arise more around implementing it, though my knowledge is a bit fuzzy around that area. As far as I know even that wouldn’t be particularly difficult. It’s been suggested before, but nothing much has been done, though I, myself, support the idea, though possibly not in the format you are suggesting. I don’t see the logic behind everyone getting but one shiny Pokemon.
The actual programming behind shiny Pokemon would take an hour at most with the PMU open source code. They are probably just focusing on other things right now.
