[Introduction]
It was a perfectly normal school day in the small town of Perdido Beach, California. Children were sitting in class listening to the constant drone of the teacher"s voice. The sound of cars zooming outside made them want to leave the dull and lifeless classroom. A breeze fluttered in through an open window.
I wish the teacher was gone . . ., thought one student.
The monotone voice of the teacher was gone. The book that the assistant teacher was reading clattered to the floor. Students paused and silence enveloped the room until someone talked.
“He just went . . . poof.”
That sure summed it up. The rowdy boys from the back desks got up and ran out of the room enjoying their newfound freedom. Cries of surprise and fear combined with the joyous laughter echoed throughout the hallways of the school. With a bit of group researching, all humans over the age of fourteen disappeared during that short stint.
Now, with the lack of adult authority, children run this town. The food left is being devoured, the toddlers" lives are at stake with the lack of responsibility. But there is a lesser known threat emerging from the shadows, from the darkness. Recently, wildlife and children had been developing “powers” of sorts. Some can control light, some can use telekinesis to control objects, some can blend into their surroundings, the variety is endless.
There are two sides forming and only the wittiest and the strongest will survive this madness.
The Coates Academy, a boarding school where “difficult yet smart” children are sent. They are trying to establish a system for the unorganized group of children to fall into, but they"re aware of these “powers”. Keeping this a secret, they"re using force to get the children to obey. The rules they make are harsh but it certainly keeps everyone in order. Their leader, Caine Soren is a courageous and witty boy who also has the “power”. He has many followers in the Coates Academy and he is somewhat of a monarch figure towards them.
The Other Side who doesn"t have an official name, are a small group of children who went through the first days of the disaster together. They"re not as strict as the Coates Academy and to be a matter a fact, they dislike the Coates Academy rule. Their “leader”, Sam Temple is one of the children who has the “power”. He"s a modest boy who does brave actions when they need to be done. Sam has his group of rebels in more of a democratic relationship, but he still has the most power in the group.
Now as a child with the “power” you"ve got to decide what you"re going to do to survive in this new world. The heated relationships between Coates Academy and Sam"s Rebel group is fairing badly and it"s going to end out in an all out battle. Fearing the power of the Coates Academy"s power, you follow Sam Temple"s group, this is your chance to help out in this disaster. Find your place in the group, fight, heal, feed, survive.
