That orb suggestion I made in global

I basically spouted off an idea for an Orb to be made in place of all HM moves except fly in Global. However that would mean in order to use the orbs you’d have to have already beaten all of the dungeons required for the HMs.

Pros: Convenient, Tradable, Definitely a good option for those who don’t want to switch party members around.

Cons: takes up inventory slots, this item isn’t stackable and is most likely going to be one use. (For balance purposes)

could be useful i guess but i prefer item slots > party slots tbh so not too sure :(

I don’t think they should be traded around due to how broken that could be. A new user with this orb at their arsenal would be able to access places they shouldn’t. You did mention that they would have to “clear the dungeons” to use the HMs, but I see more problems with coding something like that since it would be a unique set of code not already within the game.

This con of “one-time use” makes it relatively pointless. How would Rock Climb work with this orb? If you wanted to use Rock Climb, you would need to have a whole bunch just to climb up the walls. The only thing I see it being used for is for HM Surf, which still isn’t saying much because HM Surf is an amazing AoE for water-types and the only useful HM in battle late-game.

It’s a good idea in concept, but it really doesn’t have much use. Many places that use HM Cut or HM Rock Smash are usually on an HM Slave with other HM moves. Also, since this is a late-game item (with having to beat all dungeons to even use it), there still wouldn’t be much (if any) use since most end-game dungeons have access to Assemblies, which means that people can just use an HM Slave just to reach a dungeon then store them. If this was an orb that was unlimited use and only available for the user themselves, I think it would have much more of a purpose and have so much better usage.

Then again, who uses Cloudy Orb when the weather rocks exist? It could just be another pointless orb that people rarely use out of laziness.

Rock Climb makes no sense to begin with, because you can just fly somewhere high up. Personally I am not a huge fan of HMs being required because they make no sense (e.g. just jump or fly over the obstacle…). Except maybe for Dive, Dig, and Fly, which are cool.

I agree that it’s annoying having to carry HM slaves around. If we need all these barriers they could easily be resolved with a non tradable/droppable item. I know it requires a little more coding but that shouldn’t really be a problem.
