Jacob lived with his family, living mostly a normal life, and then one day, while sitting in his room at night, while surfing through the channels of his bright TV, he came across a news show, talking about an outbreak in some new disease. Jacob flipped it off, and later regretted it. The next morning, he packed his iPhone and his solar charger, and stuffed it deep in his bookbag, so teachers wouldn’t see through the black mesh. He stuffed his personal pocket knife, along with some pop tarts in his large jacket pocket and ran off to school. He was in third period, talking to some friends when there was a knock at the door, the teacher, politely opened the door. There was a small groan and the teacher gasped, and stood there in shock. The police officer, bit into her neck, causing her to scream out loud. Everyone started screaming, everything was in a panic and Jacob had played enough Call of Duty to know what was happening. Zombies. He kicked into survival mode, and reached into his backpack for his pocket knife, and rushed foward to the zombie, kicking it in the stomach and jumping on it, stabbing it in the head over and over, until it stopped squirming. Jacob dragged the body in and slammed the door, taking the gun from the dead police officer, Jacob fired a blank in the air, his hand dripping with blood, he didn’t mind though. “Everybody! Snap out of this panic! If we’re going to survive, we need to get somewhere safe. Like the Gym!” He yelled, his voice echoing about the room. Several people murmured and agreed, some looking around the room for weapons, scissors were being passed around, broken in half to be used as knifes. Some were in shock, and some snapped into action. “Now. Let’s go!” Jacob yelled, opening the door, the kids rushed out, and were met by a horde of zombies in the south wing, so they rushed to the north. and fought off some teachers and older students as they advanced toward the gym, losing and gaining others along the way. Finally they came to the gym, to find it was barricaded. The banged on the doors for a while, and as the wood was moved, more zombies started coming. They didn’t have much time. Finally, the doors lurched open, and dozens of people rushed in the large gym. They turned around to close the doors to find dozens of zombies rushing down the hallways. Most of the younger people, visitors, or people who couldn’t fight, or didn’t have the stomach for gore, crowded in the corner, while a few dozen braze souls, ones with weapons, stepped up. They fought for a long hour, and when the zombies wouldn’t stop coming, they all rushed forward, and slammed the doors shut, locking them and fighting off the remaining zombies. Jacob glanced around the gym. He noticed that there was no adults. They quickly barricaded the doors back up and sat back, Jacob turned around and faced the group of kids off to the right, they walked towards him. “Hey, Jacob, you sure brought a group, huh?” One asked. Jacob recognized as Simon, one of the older students. “Yea, had to get a few people, can’t just leave em.” Jacob replied. Simon nodded. “I guess it’s better that we’re in a group, since we can probably fight off more zombies. But they’re all adults, did you notice” “Yea, I actually did. People got bit a few times, but they’re not turning or anything like that. It’s just getting infected if not rinsed off.” Jacob replied. “Somehow calling them zombies doesn’t seem right though, I mean, everybody over the age of 15 turns, they call em’ Sickos. I heard it on the news.” Jacob’s stomach churned. Maybe if he had watched the news, he could have saved some of his friends back home. “We’re going to run out of supplies you know.” Simon said. “We have the cafeteria, and we can loot the vending machines and teacher’s lounges. I know this place where they keep a whole bunch of refills for the vending machines, along with a lot of soda.” Jacob replied. “Yea, I guess. But we have a lot of people to feed.” He eyed the dozens of people small and big. “Yea.” Jacob replied. “We’ll get by. Maybe we can high-jack cars or buses or something.” Simon looked a him. “I guess.”
