Town Raids

You can have special raid days at certain important times of day for instant Halloween ghosts and that wander around town which are recruit able yet a low chance as well special drops when they feint which can only be obtained during those events.

This event will be a time limit event.

I can’t believe nobody has responded to this. This is a wonderful idea! :joy: Now, before we discuss this in detail, lemme ask you a couple of things: How many pokemon are going to raid the town as once, how difficult are they to beat, and how often will they spawn in?

It depends on the type of Pokemon and It’s level, for instance 2-3 Ghastly’s are raiding as well as a Duskull and another ghost which is rare this is an example, but It will be randomized levels due to the fact it would be unfair on everyone if they are just one level. And after so many have been defeated a certain low chance find Pokemon shall appear, if not, then maybe the next time, but I thought since everyone is in town most of the time, why not add something new to excite them. A defeat counter can possibly be put into action so if it has reached a certain goal number a boss would’ve appeared or instead of using all of the time to make that we could just have a boss spawn in with a percentage of %1.5- 0.5 or something really low so item drops from it doesn’t get spammed.

How many Pokemon will raid?: 6-8 or lower depends on what staff would think.

What would happen to the main town npc’s?: They would have their percentage set to 0 for spawn as if they were hiding in their buildings or taking a safety spot from the bad Pokemon.

How constant would this possibly occur not repeated due to the fact that staff will have to keep doing it which is unfair.
Unless it can be randomly chosen within event week.

Well, the reason I ask is, there are three potential downsides to this idea depending on how you want to do this: higher level players, staff, and lag.

Now, you mentioned randomized lvls because making them one lvl would be unfair to everyone. How would this be unfair? Everyone can defeat say, a level one pokemon, but not everyone can beat a level 50. Also, consider that there are higher lvl players that will spam AoE moves and try to take everything for themselves. That could get annoying. I have a suggestion as to how to work around this though: either cut down the amount of pokemon that spawns in to 1 or 2, and have it to where they appear randomnly anywhere through town, or give them all wide guard and grudge status, to make things a little more interesting for everyone :>:D:

Second, we have to consider staff. They may not have the time to implement this into the game, considering the amount of work they already have to do and the amount of players starting to “rebel”. I’m sure they’ll eventually get around to it but once they do, it’ll probably only be a one time thing. They might also have additional concerns that we haven’t looked at that might stop them from adding this in. But let’s hope that staff is excited about this idea as we are.

Now the final concern would be the lag. If there are too many pokemon attacking the town at once, everyone would be attacking them at once and it would slow down the game, making it harder for everyone to enjoy the experience. I don’t see this problem happening with 6-8 pokemon appearing, but depending on their spawn rate, and how tough these “bosses” are, it could result in a lot of lag, considering how much of the playerbase is in grassroot at the time. It is for this reason why I only suggest very few appear at a low lvl and with a very slow spawn rate, so that everyone will have a chance to watch out for them and defeat them.

Now, those are my only counters against this idea. Overall, I see great potential in this and it can excite a lot of people. The idea of pokemon “raiding” the town and everyone working together to fight them off would be a thrill, especially if we got something good out of it. I also like the idea of the npcs disappearing as if they were hiding, it’s a nice touch! But what would we do with the shopkeepers? :o.ol:

Within the control panel editing npc’s you can edit there spawn rate and specie but mainly the spawn rate can be set to 0 temporary which will allow them to look like they went into hiding or to add a better effect the shops and buildings can be boarded temporarily.

Anyone is allowed to improve this suggestion if they are willing to.

I don’t know about boarding up the shops though, even if it’s temporary. I think we need some way in which we can access those stations, like how in red/ blue rescue team you were still able to shop and store items while everyone in town was asleep.

This storing item issue could be fixed with a Remote Storage Orb which allows you to open your storage within this town raid mode but is only usable during it It isn’t drop able nor a sell able item.

This item does not exist it’s just a suggestion.

I suppose… but if players are anything like me, they go to kecleon to buy and sell their items… They also might want to go to Chimecho Assembly to rearrange their team. I suppose some players can simply go to another town but this may prove to be annoying to some.

This could possibly be annoying but can work around it.

It’s a good idea, but I see a problem with this. Players just starting out the game would walk into Grassroot and be immediately swarmed by high level Pokémon. Another problem would be that many players tend to AFK in Grassroot. They would be susceptible to an attack. The raiding Pokémon would either have to be non-aggressive until attacked or they’ll have to be in a more higher leveled location such as Tanren City or Greenport where players would be more ready for them.

The areas around the shops could be made safe zones so that the raiding Pokémon couldn’t get close or attack you while you’re using the shop.

This sounds like a really cool idea, but there are a few kinks we need to work out first:

(Which include, and are not limited to.)

  • Time limit.
  • Number of Raid Pokemon
  • Strength of Raid Pokemon
  • Location
  • Player Interference

Walking into or logging into a swarm of dangerous Pokemon in a normally safe location sounds scary. I don’t think there should ever be PvP or PvE of any sort in towns - unless it’s some sort of special event town. I see the town as a hub of player communication, discussion, and a place to rest and restock for the next adventure.

Instead, why not have these special raid Pokemon spawn in random locations in the overworld (where they would be slightly tougher or around the level of the nearby wild Pokemon) or, again, special event locations?

Maybe this could work as some sort of weekly event. Any suggestions?

This sounds like a more improved idea and the event could be where players go and hunt these event Pokemon.
