As soon they are localized, it’s necessary to change their in-game names, to Snivy, Tepig and Oshawott. Proof
yes… those names suck… i mean… the pig, sniffy and otter what. -.-
but, who am i to complain?
I’m going to vote against this simply because the new names suck major beeeeeeeeep. But yeah, I think keeping the Japanese names, at least for the ones we got, would add a sense of antiquity and the accomplishment in getting them. And who knows, maybe alternative ones with English names could be released later. But keep the names as is on the current ones. :P
To be fair, if we’re going to rename them, lets rename them to Smugleaf, Wotter, and Porkchop!
I agree.
If and when they are released as further pokemon…
THEN they should have the English names.
but for those that already have them, they should have the japanese names.
Uhhhh, Oshawott sounds super Japanese haha. Tepig= The Pig…? Snivy. Just… Ugh, haha.
Admittedly, I don’t like the name Smugleaf at all…I don’t really get the logic behind that one. But I get the others. xP
This name backlash happened in the last generation too. But we don’t refer to Piplup as Pocchama, Chimchar as Hikozaru, nor Turtwig as Naetle.
When any pokemon’s official name changes in the server’s pokedex, all recruited pokemn that are already named end up keeping their nicknames (in this case, it would be their japanese names).
Like the main games, people can rename their pokemon anyway.
I like the original names better (Tsutarja, Pokabu, Mijumaru)
The new names seems so weird x3
