Well, Most you have played the PMD games. Thats probably what brought you to PMU. Anyway, as you know in those games, pokemon such as Venomoth and Magnemite were able to go over Water and Lava tiles. Despite the fact that they were not part Water, Fire, or Flying Type. I’d think it’d be nice to have a system like that in PMU.
Pokemon that appear to be floating or flying (that aren’t flying type). should be able to go over these special tiles. I’m not sure how staff would program such a thing, i just think that’d it make more sense.
It might be better to use PMD games a guide to see which pokemon could and couldn’t go over these tiles. I know 4 pokemon in general that do not appear to be floating or flying. and they were to walk over water tiles. These pokemon were Cradily and Armaldo (and their pre-evolutions).
Sorry if this topic may be confusing to others, and sorry for any typos i may have made.
I hope whoever reads this, will understand my point, and hopefully agree with me.
Staff have done what they could. A system like this already exists to some extent. Tropius is a flying and grass type, yet it can move over “most” surfaces. Walking on lava causes a burn, and so on. So though tropius is not a fire type, it can still move on fire tiles, water tiles. If for some reason, there is a pokemon which cannot move, but still appears in the anime as a something that floats, it is probably because it does not have “levitate” which is an ability useful in avoiding earthquakes, as chipper mentioned.
A few controversies have already popped up related to various issues, revolving around many pokemon. For example, people claim that hippopowdown is a hippo, yet it cannot move over water. Well, have a closer look at it’s type. It’s not water type, which the main reason why it could have moves over water tiles. Now, lanturn comes, making a smooth appearance!
Lanturn is a contradicting type; i.e. water and electric. It is clearly possible to see that lanturn can move over water tiles, there being no particular “electric” tiles. So generally speaking, if a particular pokemon cannot walk on water or file tiles, it may be because of the following things: -abilities
-type
-anime related issues.
I know why pokemon can and can’t walk over tiles in this game (sorry for the confusing on my part, i should’ve better explained my topic).
In a Nutshell, the PMD games let pokemon that appear to be flying and floating. Go over water and lava. Regardless of their type and ability.
If you’ve played the first PMD game. You’ll know that Magnemite is a perfect example of this. It is neither Water/Flying/ Or Fire. But it can go over all the of special blocked tiles.
PMU has items such as Slip Seeds and Air Balloons that allow you to go over water, lava, and sky. So I really think there’s no need for making those tiles.
I agree with what12345, I think there is no need to develop such a feature, when something like this already exists!
Also, some pokemon already have such an ability!
I see where you’re getting at. It wouldn’t seem bad to have these sorts of pokemon walk over water/lava tiles. And even though it would make more sense seeing as PMU is based off of PMD, I don’t really see the necessity in it other than some sort of satisfaction. The staff are mostly busy with more important things than adding a little detail. However, I’d like to see this implemented once the staff have the time and feel like adding in such a system.
Well, its good to see, that someone finally understands what i’ve been saying xD. I can also see what you mean by staff being busy, so i guess we can all wait or something.
