Pokemon has evolved from an old basic turn based RPG into something that has captivated the world.
I hear this in-game sometime and people have many opinions.
Some people like the technical stuff and the graphics, some like the storyline, some like the simplicity.
I’m curious to hear everyone’s thoughts on this.

Fixed up the types, and added two more.
Nice Storyline, allowed you to go to the Kanto Reigion too.
Gen 3
Switchover to GBA
Huge Graphic update.
Introduced 135 new pokemon to us.
Introduced Wireless trading.
Gave us our first remakes.
Storylines were brilliant.
Gen 4
Switchover to DS
Again, with the graphics update.
Introduced 107 new pokemon.
Introduced better connectivity to players across the world.
Storyline was… as expected, good.
Gen 5
Graphics update - Things look 3D
Introduced 156 new pokemon.
Fixed a few connectivity issues.
Storyline was brilliant as ever.
Extra Features such as Pokemon Dream World and 3D Pokedex.
I’d mention music in them all, but they’ve all good great music tracks.
I think… it’s pretty close between them all, but my favorite has to be gen 5… it’s new, it’s up to date, it features all of the features of the other games, plus it’s own. The Storyline is phenominally better than the rest. Plus… I guess I’m biassed in the fact that I’ve spent most time on my black version than any other of my games.
EDIT: You missed out FireRed and LeafGreen from the gen 3 list.
Hummm…Anime wise I’d have to say Generation 1. The newer seasons are very…VERY stupid :P Game wise Gen 5. The new pokemon’s styles are awesome and they actually have more…Hm… Pizzazz. xD
Generation One was too… Pfft.
Generation Two… Pfft. A little bit better though. ;D
Generation Four, I was all like “What The!” with the character designs. (I hated Chimchar too.)
Generation Five, my first reaction was:
“Aww… the Oshaw-- OMG Did they design the girl character after Amy Winehouse?!” R.I.P to her btw.
Generation Three, I got Emerald for one of my birthdays. :3

Platinum and White are my favourite for story, Platinum for post story. Pokemon wise, The Weedle and Cyndaquil line are the only ones I like from gen 1-2. Gen 4 gave us several dragons that I like, but Gen 3 had Kyorgre and Torchic…
Im gonna go ahead and vote Gen 4 as it is the generation that took the most of my time, Gen 5 had to little to do post-story for my liking, other than grinding to beat a certain Cynthia.

Pokemon Dream World.
You need a lot of points though, it’s the one pokemon from dream world I’ve yet to obtain.
Gen 3 because of emerald:
Best story of all generations, and i have played 1 game in all the generations that wernt remakes
Good pokemon design: Swampert,Rayquaza,Salamence,Metagross,Aggron etc…
Best soundtrack for pokemon ever! team magma and aqua music were so iconic and i looked forward to fighting them everytime.
There at least in these games some danger: Team Aqua and Magma were almost about to leave the world in despair in ruin, havent seen that in any other pokemon games…
Regi’s made me try to learn braile, which was fun battling them and trying to catch them (im now gonna send them to pearl for regigigas)
Groudon,Kyogre,Rayquaza are some of the best detailed and made legendaries ever.
Groudon and Kyogre in emerald could have temporary bases E.g: groudon could be found where its sunny so it would spawn a random cave there, Kyogre could be found where its raining and it would spawn random underwater cave.
All that sums up why its my favourite region ever, also Shiny Rayquaza, nuff said…
If this was based upon region, I’d say Gen 1 without hesitation as I adore Kanto and always had, since my dearest memories of Pokemon were back when I was little and… well, Kanto was all that existed! So yeah, super nostalgia, plus I love pretty much all the pokemon in the region (even zubat!) as well as Teeeeeam Rocket. 83
As far as games go though, definitely Generation 3.
I say this because Gen 3 was where I started playing the pokemon games, and thus, it is very nostalgic. Most of the games in this generation (RSE and LGFR) were some of the first pokemon games I owned, as well as being some of the first video games I ever had.
I played on my gameboy for hours on end, and every time I play through one of those games it really brings me back in time…
Of course, here I am - judging which generation of games is my favourite behind my nostalgia goggles. 8D I don’t like to get too technical, but as far as graphics, storyline and all of that goes, each generation seemed to improve with that as things went along, and there was always at least one game I enjoyed in each generation. (aside from 1 and 2, since I never actually played any of those games! Though I’m sure I would’ve enjoyed RSE and GSC immensely if I had the chance to when I was younger)
But yup, total nostalgia points from me. Gen 3 all the way… and as far as my favourite region goes, definitely Kanto and the Generation 1 pokemon.
