WHY Would Shaymin be a Guy?

Wut? SUM1 in this forum thinks so.

No way Shaymin’s a guy.

[ul]It looks liek a girl.
Movie 11
Gender thing 4 legendaries ingame[/ul]

Ummm. Shaymin is quite obviously a male, especially in Sky Form. Listen to the voice again.

pffft HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA

rite. shaymin is quite obviously a gurl. what boy grows flowers in itself?

and both voices sound girlish. girls can be brave and shy, not just guys.

Yeah. And guys rarely r that shy. And BOTH voices sound girl.

yup yup, exactly mah point!

Just because Shaymin is cute, doesn’t automatically make it female.
It’s based on a hedgehog. There are male hedgehogs out in existence, I’m pretty sure. And hedgehogs are so dang cute XD

And about the “Brave and Shy” thing; Just because a majority of people with those personality traits happen to be one gender - that doesn’t neccessarily prove Shaymin’s gender because there is still the minority. That’s just stereotyping.

As for a male pokemon growing flowers - Vileplume, Venasaur…For crying out loud, Venasaur has more of a chance being male than female.
Of course, flowers are associated with females - so that explains that.

However, I do tend to group Shaymin as female :3
I don’t think it’s silly to think otherwise, but I’m pretty convinced that Shaymin is female. Of course, there might not be one. PMD is apparently in another dimension. If there is one in the “ash Kecthum” dimension, then it has to be a different one in the PMD dimension.
But that a whole other arguement O___O

its a boy in sky form and girl in land form

there is no such thing as a gender-change pokemon.

besides ditto.

Actually Azurill has a slight chance of changing its gender due to a mistake in Marill’s female to male ratio.
Because Marill has a different ratio than Azurill, Azurill may change gender while evolving.
Creepy O_O

Shaymin Sky-forme does seem more masculine than land forme does. But that’s only the design, not the pokemon itself.

i take insults to the “guys r rarely that shy” comment. i’m that shy sometimes. also, going back to the first comment, shaymin is a legendary and most legendaries are ungendered, with the exception of latios, latias, and cresselia. i’m guessing they gave shaymin the different voices to make it in between.

Pokemon are voiced by females. And so is Ash Ketchum. In the movie,Shaymin was a boy, though sounded female. He is in fact, male  Just because they’re voiced by females, doesn’t mean the pokemon are!

you know what…
I DON’T CARE.

Rofl, that was…Unecessary…
Then again, this entire topic doesn’t seem to be neccesary O_O From the first post it sounded more or less an insult being directed at one forum member I:P

I could care less about how the anime interpets it. Game always comes first in my opinion.
Though, again, there is probably more than one shaymin. In the anime (Oh wow, I don’t care about it, yet I’m using it for an example XD) There are three lugias. Movie Lugia being male, and, in an episode, a Mother-child pair of Lugia.
And in PMD2, the celebi we all know is only in the future…Was there a different one in the past? (I haven’t beaten the post-storymode game yet, but I doubt you see shiny celebi again in the present. Not to mention she was worried about disappearing.)

Then again, legendaries probably reincarnate; Thus they don’t need a gender.

Great. I’m not even arguing a point anymore XD I’m more or less yapping and throwing out stuff…hopefully this post makes sense. >.<

I say girl. Mainly because when they refer to Shaymin in the movie they say SHE! Theres no gender change pokemon (except ditto and apparently Azurill) and while you guys say Shaymins a legendary, at the end of the movie, a large group of shaymin are seen running around. See if pokemon reproduce, they aren’t legendary. This fact even outrules Lucario as a legendary, since theres only one of each legendary.

Rofl, I love how you said “…and apparently Azurill…” Like it was really awkward to say so (though it probably was O_O)

Actually, I wouldn’t count Azurill as a gender change pokemon considering it was a glitch, though. I was just being a nerd by pointing out it can change genders shot

I don’t know what I’m missing, but I don’t think I’ve heard from any completley official source that there are only one of each legendary (And I don’t mean in game. It’s only for game purposes that they can’t breed, as breeding legendaries would be unfair; the same going for multiple legendaries in existence - and the games play along with that. By officially, I mean Nintendo actually announcing it or something)
Even though the anime goes against the games quite a lot (Such as Lickylicky using normal type moves on Darkrai in one movie…cough) if the games ever said “THERE IS ONLY EVER ONE IN EXISTANCE, YO” the anime would be sure to follow that.
As it is, we have three Lugia (Including a mother and baby), serveral Lati@s, and a dozen Shaymin running about.

Technically sum legendaries as in liek most of the 4th gener8ion 1s only hav 1 /species 2 prevent an imbalance. And Azurill only change genders AFTER they evolve. And Darkrai’s a dark type and NOT a ghost type, so a better example would b a Weaville using Shadow Ball on Ash’s Aipom (when it was his Aipom, nao it’s been removed from the anime as an Ambipom) or his Pikachu having both Leer and Tackle. But as 4 the last sentence, the Lugia part is true, the Latios soul in the Soul Dew is physically deceased (and then there’s the living Lati@s) and the Shaymin bit is obvious.

If it’s a Pokemon, it doesn’t prove them male either. Ash’s Charizard is actually only confirmed male in the English dub by a voicing error (Brock stated that it was male, saying that Charizard could use HIS Flamethrower to destroy Team Rocket’s Arbo-Tank), 4 example. MD2 Celebi is known not 2 hav an actual voice, but is proven female (despite being a legendary) by its pink “shiny” colors and mention of it being female by Grovyle (she even accidentally admits 2 the player that she lieks him). And that didn’t make sense, which is y

was posted. And wut about MD2 Grovyle’s voice actor? Dan Green rite? Or else he’d sound liek a dork! Ha! Owned!

"unknown:
That was true.

do i have to point out the obvious shaymin probably is a mixed gender pokemon that means there is no male or femal a single shaymin can be male and female.

that is impossible, unless the thing is a hermophridite. and i’m pretty sure they won’t do that.

Yeah. I mean srsly, it’s a kids’ anime. If they did that Nintendo would b sexist (no offense meant 2 any1).
