Hello everyone, I assume you have been both enjoying the Harmonic Tower dungeon, and have been having a bit of trouble (What other reason would you have for reading this guide besides judging my ability to make guides? o-o)
Well if you are here to learn on how to make your attempts on the dungeon successful, than you have come to the right place!
Please do note this: I am not making this guide so everyone can complete the dungeon, so I am not going to be giving major information about the dungeon besides what is to be expected, and how to “Maybe” avoid the challanges within Harmonic Tower. The whole point of this guide is to help make your next Harmonic Tower Attempt a successful attempt at reaching the top floor.
Things I will be covering in this guide:
- How to get to Harmonic Tower
- The Ideal Team for Harmonic Tower
- What you should be packing when in the halls of Harmonic Tower
- What challenges are to be expected in Harmonic Tower
~How to get to Harmonic Tower~
Harmonic tower is found on Tranquility Bay, which can be found on on the coast of Exbel Plains, close to Mineral Cavern. To get to Tranquility Bay, you will need to obtain HM Surf, which can now be obtained from Mineral Cavern.
Once you have obtained HM Surf, find this dock in Exbel Plains (Look for the double waterfall in Exbel Coast, it is left of it), and use Surf.
Welcome to Tranquility Bay!
Located on Tranquility Bay is the entrance to Harmonic Tower and a Chimecho Assembly. Tranquility Bay is a good place to start up a group, but it is probably a better idea to start making your group in Grassroot Town. (It has a Storage, Tranquility Bay does not.)
~The Ideal Team for Harmonic Tower~
You have probably realized that Harmonic Tower is impossible to complete with less than 4 people (Including yourself). This is where stratification and preparing your party is most important. In a party of 4, every person is allowed to use one Pokemon, so you will want to construct the best team you possibly can.
The types of Pokemon you would want in your group
Tank: A Tank is someone who takes the majority of the damage in the party, someone who has an arsenal of mostly defensive moves, but maybe just one or 2 offensive moves. Pokemon that are good tanks have very high stats in both Defense, Special Defense, and Hit Points.
Yatterman"s List of Suggested Tanks
Shuckle: A very defensive Pokemon that learns Safeguard at a low level (Which in a party of 4 in this dungeon is a great move), not a very offensive Pokemon, so it is best that Shuckle goes up each floor first so that all the Pokemon target it. Allowing other group members to take the Pokemon down. The only downside to Shuckle is it’s lack of Health and Offense. But it’s amazing defense practically makes up for it. Making it a great choice for a Harmonic Tower Team.
Umbreon: Umbreaon specializes in Sp.Def tanking, more so than Defensive. But it is overall a good pokemon that can learn some decent offensive moves with a combination of Helping Hand, as well as Moonlight (If your Umbreon is level 71…). Basically, Good defensive tank + Team supporting move with the combination of AoE Healing and Synchronize, Umbreon is a great choice for any team.
Bronzong: This Pokemon is basically a brick wall encased in shiny obsidian armor. Bronzong is a VERY defensive pokemon for both Defense and Sp.Defense, he can learn both Light Screen and Reflect as TM’s, Safeguard or Iron Defense would be good choices for either Team defense or higher tank defense, leaving you one spot for a offensive or defensive move of your choice. Overall another great choice for a tank.
Slowking: Decent defensive stats + some decent offense and an AoE heal at level 59 with some good HP. Slowking makes a nice tank for Harmonic Tower, you just need to be sure that you are using Heal Pulse at the right time, instead of healing a monster house.
List of Player Suggested Tanks
Forretress -Suggested by: Alex_Dono- : Forretress is overall a great tank that does focus on slightly more offensive moves such as Spikes and Toxic Spikes, these moves can easily support your team in a sticky situation (Like a monster house), which can easily sweep through an army with the addition of decent DPS and a good support. Forretress also has the option of learning Reflect or Light Screen from TM, so if you do not have a support with either of the moves, it is deffinitly something to consider.
Support: A Support could be considered a Healer with moves that support the team, whether it be giving your enemies status ailments or supporting your team via moves like Reflect, Light Screen, Helping Hand, Wish, ect… Doing either of those with the addition of Healing makes the Supporter an ideal party member.
Yatterman"s List of Suggested Supports
Gardevoir: With moves like Heal Pulse, Wish, and a wide variety of some Status Ailments and or Offensive moves, what else could you ask for as a Supporter? If this does not get your attention, Gardevoir has both Synchronize and Telepathy, great abilities for a support. It would be hard to pass on a Pokemon like this as your team’s support.
Vileplume: Decent stats with healing AND Spores, Vileplume is a great Support for any team, Having at least one Pokemon on your Team with Effect Spore could help a little bit, but the main idea for supporters is to stay alive and not take to many hits… Vileplume overall is a great support.
Bellossom: Compared to Vileplume, Bellossom is more of a Team Player in terms of Abilities. If you fear Status Ailments, then Bellossom is a good choice for a supporter. In comparison, Vileplume is slightly more Offensive, and Bellossom is slightly more Defensive, it is really up to you which one you would want more.
DPS: This is really up to whoever you have put in charge of dealing the most damage, so it is up to you to decide what you want for your DPS.
I can give you a tip though, it is probably best to have a Pokemon that is mainly Offensive, but has a strong Defensive side, so you wont just be falling flat on your back all the time. As well as using moves that give you STAB, instead of using the most powerful move that you can get your hands on. PP saving is important for DPS, so do not just spam moves in an attempt to kill something unless it is needed.
Team Layouts
Having some trouble figuring out what you want in your team? Here are some Layouts you could use.
Classic Build:
+1 Tank
+1 Support
+2 DPS
-This Build is pretty much what most people go after when attempting hard dungeons. This team ensures that you have at least one person who can take the damage for the team, a supporter that can heal the team and or tank if needed, and two people to help with all of the fighting.
Defensive Build v1:
+2 Tank (It is suggested that at least one Tank has a healing move)
+1 Support
+1 DPS
- The idea of this team is to have one Tank that is semi Offensive that will explore with the Support, and another Tank that has a healing move explore with the DPS, thus allowing your team to split up to find the stairs, and or switches to open the stairs, allowing more productivity and usage of less belly when traveling in a full group of four.
Defensive Build v2:
+2 Tank
+2 Support
- Pretty much the same as v1, except the Tanks can both be a bit more Offensive, and the supports can keep them alive with healing if needed. You can still explore in groups of two.
Berserker Build:
+1 Support
+3 DPS (It Is suggested that all DPS have at least one AoE that does not hurt your group.)
- The idea behind this group is that all DPS focus on mostly AoE damage so there is no real need to have a Tank, and having a Support that has a heal. This is for a full group of four that travel together.
~What you should be packing while in the halls of Harmonic Tower~
It is pretty self explanatory as to what you should bring to a 99 Floor Dungeon, but here is a list of items that you will most likely want to take with you:
Big Apple’s (I would bring at least 4 - 6 just to be safe)
Reviver Seed’s (If you have a good team, you should only need about 4 - 6 per person, but one person might want to bring extras to hand out to the team, just to be safe)
Elixir’s (AoE PP Restore is Key, bring as many as you would need)
Lum Berry’s (This really depends if you do not have a Pokemon on your team that can cure status ailment or not, I would bring about 2 per person.)
Rollcall Orb’s (This is a very nice item to have when scouting for the stairs when you are missing one or two of your party members.)
(Optional Items)
Soothe Bell (This really depends if you want to recruit any of the higher floor Pokemon, or at least have a better chance at recruiting them)
Any helpful held item (If you have more than one held item you want to bring with you that could help you, you should probably bring it if you can actually spend the time to constantly switch held items back and forth)
Mystery Egg’s (If you still have some empty space, you should probably bring these with you so you can get rid of the steps on them while your in the dungeon.)
~What challenges are to be expected in Harmonic Tower~
To keep this short and simple, I am just going to show you some pictures of what you should be expecting from Harmonic Tower in terms of Challenge:
Locked Stairs
Locked Stairs can only be opened when you step on the Button(s) located on the dungeon floor.
Button (Inactivated)
This is a Button, when it is flashing, that means that the Stairs are still locked, to open the Stairs, you must push the Button(s), as you go higher up in the floors, more buttons will spawn, making this dungeon impossible to do alone.
Button (Activated)
Once the Button(s) stop flashing, then the Stairs will be unlocked and you will now be able to continue the dungeon.
Loudred
Right now, Loudred’s sprite is a bit broken, so when you find one in the dungeon it will be invisible, this can be annoying at times, so be on your guard.
Wobbufett
FEAR these things! It is advised that unless you have a Pokemon with Shed Shell or the Ability Run Away, that you stay far away from these things, they will eat away at your reviver seeds with their Shadow Tag.
And that is pretty much all you need to know! I would suggest that you do not waste your PP on sleeping pokemon, and just let them be.
Other than that, I hope this guide helps anyone who was having trouble in Harmonic Tower, and I hope everyone enjoyed this guide, thank you very much~
