Darkmazer and I have also been planning out an X/Y tournament to be announced in the future… So that is a potential thing if anyone is interested (most likely a Doubles and Multi tournament)

Looks like our hiatus is over. As of today, we’re resuming the PMU League Challenge. We hope to come across even stronger Trainers than we did last year!
Hello everyone! We have some upcoming news for you about the PMU League that is happening right now. The following topics will be addressed: Seasonal gym leaders, Possibly using Pokemon Showdown in our League, A small tournament + 6 vs 6 matches with gym leaders. Uhm, that’s a great idea.
We really need more people taking part at our league, otherwise it is going to die off.
I have a problem with this. Of course we can use Pokémon Showdown to make things easier, such as team building. However, if someone was smart and was able to gain an advantage, they can directly make teams that specifically counter a gym leader’s type, win, and repeat. Not only is this unfair to the gym leaders as they’re not exactly able to defeat the incoming challenger’s team, but it also gives an easier route to victory for the challenger. It’s supposed to be a challenge, not just a great steamroll!
The others seem alright though, I don’t know how seasonal gym leaders would work, but I’m pretty sure the staff can figure this out.
Unless the leaders directly advertise the league I don’t see it gaining more players. Maybe it will when PMU comes on, or maybe nobody will participate because they’re all playing PMU. I don’t know if these things would work; sure they might be fun events but I mean they don’t really support the main goal: beat the league.
I would like to battle the first gym leader some time, but I’m not sure if I’ll ever be on at the right time…
(I live in Australia and the time here is always a bad time in America and other major places.)
Change is Coming
It’s been one month since we came together to begin this wonderful project. I’ve been busy and hence I haven’t been able to formerly return the League from its Winter Break. Today I wish to address some ideas about whats gonna happen to the PMUniverse League in the coming months.
Seasonal Gym LeadersL
I’ve been considering having a Seasonal shift for Leaders in which Gym Leaders switch for the recruited Leaders for 2 Seasons. I.E: Winter+Spring is Current League, but Summer+Fall would be a whole new set of 8 Gym Leaders. Elite Four members are excluded from this.
Use of Pokémon Showdown in our League
Us Leaders have personal lives and at times it could be very inconvenient for us to use our 3DS/2DS’s. After dwindling on it I’ve considered using Pokémon Showdown to convey battles that at times would be impossible for leaders to use. This might not be implemented and the reason why is because it’s simple to make up a party and battle the Gym Leader with little to no effort. I’ve considered setting up a request list in which the person asks to challenge a Gym Leader via Pokémon Showdown but here is the catch, you must have the same Pokémon you use in your copy of X and Y. I will make sure you have the same exact party/moves/evs/ivs/nature of each Pokemon before the match even begins.This would apply to Leaders and Challengers.
The 1V1 Mini Tournament
The Tournament will play the following way there will be 12 people. 6vs6. These battles will take place in your Pokémon X and Y copies. The rules will be this. You have a party of 3 Pokémon. You will engage in a multi battle against 2 people. each one will use 1 Pokémon and will target only one person. The last few will receive a reward of my choosing. Sign ups will being 1/20/2014 and the tourney will begin then.
6 Vs 6 Gym Leader Matches
These battles will go 6 Vs 6 and will not apply to the League, these can be carried on in anyones free time, but the Leader must use 6 Pokémon of his type. Very simple to understand.
Resuming the League
As you know some of us are adults and have to work/go to college/school and etc. Some leaders have been busy and must sometimes go on a short hiatus. I will post whenever someone is busy and I apologize for any inconviniences.

Well, I have a bit to say to this.

How are battling on your 3DS/2DS’s unconvenient? For battling on your DS’s, you just need an internet connection. For Showdown, you need to use a computer… which you can’t do if you’re traveling, or an android, which many people don’t have as well as you have to use your browser to play Showdown which can total up to many data fees.

How are you going to make sure we have to have the exact same pokemon as we do in X/Y? Do you literally have to look at our files, see the screenshots or something and then record it? Wouldn’t it just be easier to do ingame? Plus, since you’re a gym leader and you’re looking at our movesets and such, you could just easily take advantage of this and it would be unfair. It’s more of a hassle as people would have to constantly take pics and send it to you, which can get boring really fast.

I don’t like how we have to do a multi battle as some people might carry moves such as Earthquake which is actually useful and might hit your teammate and the opponent. Plus, other people will watch the battle which a smart player could look at the movesets and predict. So is this a 2 v 2 or… I don’t get it.

So is it gym leader vs gym leader or trainer vs gym leader? If it’s the former there’s really no point in telling us this unless this is on showdown and we’re watching. If it’s the latter that’s very odd because you can use this opportunity to scout the gym leader’s team(that you haven’t fought yet, of course) for no harm.
I also want to say, why can’t we fight the gym leaders in any order? I don’t understand why we have to fight in a set one because if a gym leader you haven’t reached yet is on yet the one you’re on is gone for a week, that can make it very annoying and tempting and there’s no real purpose for it.
First off, The Seasonal Gym Leaders are just another set off Leaders, your progress is not reset. When PMU is back there will probably be more people who could join us here and on the League. The concept is simple. 8 Other people cover for us for 2 Seasons, If anything goes wrong i’ll deal with it. Say you were on the 7th gym and it changes Seasons, you’ll resume on the 7th gym with that person.
For people like me who have to deal with constant schoolwork/job and etc Showdown can be breather because its on a computer. I’d have to see a screenshot, hell i’d even get people who aren’t gym leaders to go over the pokemon you would use. You could just send a trade to one of the inspectors and they could see the stats, LIKE I SAID it’s an unlikely thing to be done as i’m only considering it.
That’s the point of the Tournament, it’ll be fun. Who will be watching the battle? You just send the Replay code to me and I’ll see who the winner was.
It’s Gym Leader Vs Trainer. I plan to only allow this after you’ve beaten said Leader.
I don’t know how to feel about randomly challenging other Leaders. There is a said order to things and I’d like to keep it that way.
